About the Team:
We are seeking a strategic and driven Market Intelligence Manager to lead initiatives that translate market and competitive signals into actionable guidance for product, commercial, and executive teams. You will oversee the development of insights that support strategic decisions, market opportunity assessments, and competitive positioning. This role requires strong business acumen, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence key stakeholders through clear, data-driven storytelling.
Responsibilities:·
- Strategic Market Intelligence: Lead the identification, synthesis, and communication of macro trends, market opportunities, and competitive threats across the clinical trial and healthcare technology landscape.·
- Competitive Strategy: Build and maintain a comprehensive view of competitor positioning, go-to-market strategies, product evolution, and pricing to inform Medidata's growth strategy.·
- Business Opportunity Identification: Evaluate new and adjacent market opportunities through market sizing, trend analysis, and customer dynamics. Partner with strategy and offering management to develop recommendations for market entry or expansion.·
- Cross-functional Alignment: Ensure intelligence efforts are tightly aligned with business priorities across product, strategy, and marketing/brand teams to support cohesive strategic execution.·
- Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a strategic thought partner to product, marketing, and executive teams. Embed intelligence into decision-making processes, roadmaps, and business cases. Work closely with product marketing to integrate market and competitive insights into go-to-market strategies and product positioning.·
- Insights Leadership: Develop and deliver compelling presentations and dashboards that distill complex information into concise, executive-ready insights.·
- Conference & Industry Monitoring: Lead planning for competitive intelligence coverage at key conferences and summarize relevant takeaways to inform business strategy.·
- Operational Oversight: Prioritize, scope, and manage research projects (both internal and vendor-supported), ensuring quality, timeliness, and relevance of deliverables.·
Process and Tools: Help scale intelligence processes and systems. Identify and manage external intelligence tools, oversee vendor relationships, and manage the MI budget.·
Mentorship and Coaching: Provide guidance to junior team members, share best practices, and support the development of a high-performing Market Intelligence function.
Qualifications:·
- Experience in market intelligence, strategy, consulting, or product marketing, ideally in Life Sciences, Clinical Trials, or SaaS·
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Life Sciences, or related field (MBA or Master’s preferred)·
- Knowledge of clinical development trends, go-to-market strategies, competitive benchmarking, and pricing models is a plus.·
- Proven ability to translate complex market data and competitive insights into strategic business recommendations·
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders·
- Strong research and analytical capabilities with expertise in visualization and storytelling tools (Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint, etc.)·
- Comfortable managing multiple projects, prioritizing demands, and operating autonomously in a fast-paced environment·
- Experience with competitive intelligence platforms, secondary research databases, and forecasting models preferred·
- Collaborative and curious mindset, with a passion for uncovering insights and driving impact
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
