Role Description & Responsibilities

The SOLIDWORKS User Experience Design team is a multidisciplinary group of user experience designers, researchers, and engineers who are responsible for the user experience and user interface of SOLIDWORKS products. Our products span desktop, web, mobile, and AR/VR platforms.

As a User Experience Research Intern, you’ll help ensure user insights are at the heart of our product development. You’ll support and conduct a range of research activities to uncover user needs, test designs, and improve the experience across our platforms. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while gaining hands-on experience in an enterprise software environment.

Some of your responsibilities will include the following:

Assist in planning and conducting user research across product discovery, concept development, and detailed design phases
Support and run remote usability tests, user interviews, surveys, and other research studies
Manage participant recruitment, scheduling, and study logistics to ensure timely and organized execution
Contribute to exploratory and evaluative research focused on AI-assisted engineering workflows and next-generation interaction models
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover actionable insights
Create journey maps and other visual artifacts to communicate user workflows, goals, pain points, and opportunities
Contribute to improving research operations, documentation processes, and participant management systems

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors, UX Research, Product Design, HCI, or a related field
Familiarity with user-centered design and UX research methods, such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, task analysis, user journey mapping, and heuristic evaluations
Strong communication skills—able to clearly share research plans and insights in both verbal and written formats
Detail-oriented and organized, with an interest in both research and operations
Experience with UX tools (Figma, Miro/Mural/Figjam, Excel/Sheets) is a plus
Exposure to or interest in CAD, 3D modeling, or SOLIDWORKS is a bonus, but not required

Salary Pay Transparency

Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $22 and $40, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
