AI Ethics Charter

Guided by science, responsibility and innovation, Dassault Systèmes places ethics at the core of AI so that every technological advance serves people, society and the planet.

Innovating for a Sustainable Future

Dassault Systèmes (3DS) aspires to provide companies and individuals with virtual worlds that enable them to imagine sustainable innovations capable of harmonizing products, nature and life. Since its creation, and throughout its history, the company has worked to create a positive impact on society through its sustainable business practices and solutions.

For over 40 years, 3DS has been advancing artificial intelligence to help its customers accelerate the creation of digital twin experiences and protect their intellectual property. By putting people at the centre of science and innovation, 3DS is pushing the boundaries of imagination to shape a future where the virtual enriches the real. These efforts are guided by this aspiration, where every technological advance is measured by its ability to serve humanity and improve everyday life.

Today, Dassault Systèmes (opened up its new horizon as part of the Generative Economy by introducing “3D UNIV+RSES” that embed multiple generative AI technologies at the core of global IP Lifecycle Management (IPLM) for the benefit of its clients.

At the initiative of the European Commission, 3DS is a signatory to the AI Pact, affirming its willingness to play a proactive role in encouraging innovation and the ethical use of artificial intelligence, following the entry into force of the European AI Act.

Fundamental Pillars

1. Adopting an AI governance strategy

3DS has implemented a global AI governance framework to identify and address the opportunities and risks associated with artificial intelligence. This framework supports the strategy defined by senior management, promoting ethical, transparent and responsible AI practices across the organization. It is based on a collaborative, cross-functional approach involving various teams and functions to maximize positive impacts and make sure AI-related issues are addressed globally.

2. Identifying and assessing high-risk AI systems

3DS is working to map the AI systems it supplies or deploys [1] that could be classified as high risk under the AI Act. This helps identify, analyze and mitigate potential risks to the safety, health and rights of users and society.

[1] Deploys: Implementation and integration of AI technologies into production systems, products, or internal workflows.

3. Raising awareness and providing ongoing training

3DS promotes AI awareness and education among its staff and partners working with these systems. The training is tailored to the level of technical knowledge, experience, education, and context of use of AI systems, as well as the individuals or groups potentially affected.

These fundamental pillars enable the company to articulate its efforts to respect ethical principles in the development of AI systems:
