Dassault Systèmes will kick off its annual Science in the Age of Experience event October 13, 2020 in a new, four episode virtual format to examine how science can drive a more sustainable and resilient world. As the COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the imperative for well-being and new ways of inventing, the event’s presentations, roundtable discussions and interactions with academic and industry thought leaders will focus on the advances that are guiding sustainability in manufacturing, life sciences and healthcare, and infrastructure and cities. Episodes include:
October 13: Powering A Better Future With Science will focus on the urgency for science and technology to drive life-changing collaborations and innovations to resolve the current crisis and push for a more sustainable future, and some of the recent insights, fast responses and early successes that have improved human life. Speakers include Professor Frances Arnold, Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry in 2018 and Professor Neil Gershenfeld, Director, MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms; and Bernard Charlès, Chairman and CEO, Dassault Systèmes.
October 14: A New Era To Redefine Sustainable Life will explore the impact of virtual twin technology on humans, predictive modeling, and new tools and platforms in COVID-19, cancer, cardiovascular and other immune diseases, including game-changing scientific innovations from 2020. Speakers include Eytan Abraham, Head of Personalized Medicine Business Unit, Lonza; Dr. David Fajgenbaum, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network and Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania; and Dr. David Hoganson, Assistant in Cardiac Surgery, Boston Children's Hospital.
October 20: Science Takes Manufacturing To New Levels will look at some of the major successes and challenges of manufacturing in 2020 and how virtual twin capabilities, predictive modeling and simulation tools are driving industry toward smarter, safer and more efficient production facilities with a new focus on circular economies and recycling. Speakers include David Clark, Vice President Sustainability, Amcor; Sébastien Flichy, Innovation and Valorization Vice President, Veolia France; Dr. Guru Madhavan, Senior Director of Programs, National Academy of Engineering; and Raymond Russell, Head of Sustainability & Environment, Boom Aerospace.
November 10: Tomorrow’s Sustainable Cities will explore how science and technology can help cities boost their appeal, resilience and innovation by identifying needs, exploring potential scenarios, and using predictive modelling to plan and execute projects to offer the best quality of life and experience for all citizens. Speakers include Marijana Novak, Data Strategist, Circle Economy and Dr. Adama Tandia, Senior Research Associate, Corning.
