Germany Brand: SIMULIA
Industry: Transportation & Mobility

The Wölfel group comprises two companies (engineering service and technology) with more than 60 employees, providing demanding solutions in vibrations and acoustics.

The Challenge

Create a realistic 3D computer model of the human body in order to design more comfortable car seats and examine the potential health effects of a wide variety of vibrations and loads on drivers and passengers.

Dassault Systèmes Response

CASMIR (Calculated Sitting Man in Research), a 3D human-body model, uses finite-element-analysis to assess seat designs.

Virtual prototyping has helped zero in on features, compare different designs, and rapidly optimize for both static and dynamic comfort. In addition, simulation has minimized the need for expensive prototypes and shorten the time to set up the model from several weeks to less than a day.
