Your Mission:
Developer with 5+ years of overall and 3+ years front-end experience who enjoys CSS layout puzzles, knows jQuery but understands its limitations, has a strong focus on clean, semantic HTML markup with accessibility and performance in mind. The UI team at Medidata works to create and deploy a common UI framework based on Bootstrap 3 and works closely with cross-functional teams to implement features using our framework and modern web standards. With our expanding use of modern front-end frameworks, such as React and angular, a solid understanding of modern JavaScript is required. Strong communication skills are a must as we work with many engineering teams across Medidata to help implement our framework in various tech stacks and are involved in constant knowledge sharing. This role requires a very self-motivated individual who can take the lead when needed and is capable of consulting and executing on various projects at a time.
Your Competencies:
5+ years of overall professional experience developing enterprise software
3+ years experience front-end development
Understanding of Semantic HTML
Current on best practices for JavaScript (ES6/ES7), CSS, HTML, cross-browser debugging
Knowledge of React, AngularJS or similar front-end MV* framework
Experience with front-end testing tools like Jest, Cypress, Mocha, etc.
Strong understanding of web-standards based development
Understanding of Web Accessibility
Familiarity with backend MVC frameworks (Ruby on Rails a plus)
Working knowledge of the UNIX command-line environment (must be comfortable using a terminal)
Strong communication skills - verbal and written
Understanding of source control management (Git/Github)
Your Education & Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent work experience
Ruby and/or Ruby on Rails experience is preferred, although not entirely necessary
Basic prior experience in working with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services is preferred
TDD/BDD experience - especially with JavaScript
Understanding of HTML5 concepts and usage
Postgres and/or MySQL experience
Clinical research knowledge or worked in a regulated environment is preferred
