Background

This technical note is to inform all BIOVIA Workbook (v2021 SP1) customers regarding a known issue where Molecular Weight (MW) calculation is not accurate under some conditions for the same molecule.

MW Calculation uses string values from periodic table values. The Periodic table is stored with string values that are parsed into numeric values. The parsing of these string values to number values currently works as expected when the regional settings decimal separator is “.” and only affecting customers using regional settings with the comma as decimal separator on the client computer.

Solution

BIOVIA is addressing this defect in the upcoming Workbook 2021 SP1 HF1 release where MW calculation returns as expected regardless of the user’s regional settings.
