T59-2022 Notification regarding BIOVIA Insight

BIOVIA Insight

Program

BIOVIA Insight

Operating System

All supported operating systems

Description

This Technical Note is to inform you about an issue with Aggregating Data Sources (ADS).

Performing a search in Insight that retrieves many thousands or millions of records can cause the following two issues:

1.     Many ‘ICS_TMPEL…’ tables in the Oracle schema for the ADS.

Not all of the tables are garbage collected and can remain behind after a search is completed and the user has logged out of Insight. You might decide to set up a job where these files are deleted if they are over several day old.

2.     Large files in the <pipeline_pilot>\apps\scitegic\javaserver\apache\apache-tomcat folder on the Pipeline Pilot server where Insight is installed.

The file names begin with ‘AQSKeys_’ and ‘QSList’. The ‘AQSKeys’ and ‘QSList’ files are approximately 130 and 100 MB respecitively.

The above screen shot is the result of retrieving 2 million records in a search from 2 logged in users. Many of these files will remain behind after the user has logged out of Insight.

During a maintenance period when users are logged out of applications using this BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot server, the ‘AQSKeys’ files will be deleted when the Pipeline Pilot Manager service is restarted. Restarting the Pipeline Pilot Manager service will restart the Pipeline Pilot Httpd and Tomcat services. The ‘QSList’ files can also now be deleted.

This issue does not affect searching from Integrating Data Sources (IDS). It also has not been reported or found when testing ADS from Isentris.

Resolution

BIOVIA is aware of and investigating this issue.
