T57-2021 Changes to CentOS Support for BIOVIA Applications

BIOVIA Discovery Studio

Program

BIOVIA Discovery Studio

BIOVIA Materials Studio

BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot

BIOVIA Solvation Chemistry suite

Operating System

CentOS Linux

Background

In December 2020, the CentOS Project announced a shift of focus and a number of changes to their support policy. Significant changes include:

  1. The future of the CentOS Project is CentOS Stream, which tracks just ahead of a current RHEL release.
  2. CentOS Linux 8, as a rebuild of RHEL 8, will no longer be available after December 31, 2021. CentOS Stream will continue after that date, serving as the upstream (development) branch of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  3. CentOS Linux 7 will continue to be released through the remainder of the RHEL 7 lifecycle.

Resolution

In line with these changes, BIOVIA would like to clarify the support for CentOS for the BIOVIA Discovery Studio, Materials Studio, Pipeline Pilot, and Solvation Chemistry product lines:

  1. Deployments of the 2019, 2020, and 2021 releases of the above BIOVIA software on CentOS 7.x will be supported through the remainder of the RHEL 7 lifecycle.
  2. Deployments of the 2021 release of the above BIOVIA software on CentOS 8.x will no longer be supported after December 31, 2021.
  3. Deployments on CentOS Stream will not be supported.
