Operating System
Microsoft Windows Server (64 bit) 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019
Description
We are providing this Technical Note to inform you about the release of BIOVIA Notebook 2020 HF2 that includes the following enhancements and fixed defects:
Enhancements
CELN-11120 – The DC_MESSAGES and DC_CLIENTS database tables now have indices to improve performance when their content increases.
CELN-11104 – A tool is available for re-indexing specific chemical structures from ChemDraw. These include structures which have become corrupt due to captions created using the Text tool or multi-line captions created using the Analysis tool. Please contact Support regarding usage instructions and requirements.
CELN-11034 – The expanded Recent Experiments list widget available on the Foundation Hub landing page can now be filtered, for example by Project or Experiment Type.
CELN-10980 – The molarity property of a Chemical Reaction section now has different scale options and a default can be set in the user's profile.
CELN-10951, CELN-10953 – ChemDraw 19 is supported on MacOS and Windows.
CELN-10700 – When a chemical reactant is edited, the Molar equivalence and Amount fields are now kept and the Mass is re-calculated, unless the values have been edited by the user. When calculated values are overwritten by the user, this is now indicated with *bold* text.
CELN-10424 – The NotebookLoginService RPC login endpoint can now be used with Foundation Hub.
CELN-10360 – The list in the Related Experiments section is now populated more quickly, in particular when there is a large number of experiments.
CELN-10013 – A co-signer can now move on to the next experiment to sign directly from the cosigning page, without returning to the list on the Notebook home page.
CELN-9241 – A new PowerPoint Presentation section is now available, similar to the Word Document and Excel Workbook sections. You can now also edit PowerPoint files in File Attachment sections. These features are currently only available for Windows.
CELN-9232, CELN-3150, CELN-9368, CELN-3437 – Collaborators can now be defined in personal templates. Cloned experiments now retain the sharing properties of their parent.
CELN-9163 – The time taken to generate PDFs when submitting experiments or viewing as PDF has been reduced. The system stability has been improved, the number of concurrent PDF generation processes is now limited to a configurable maximum value. Users receive a message and must try again later if the limit is reached.
Fixed Defects
CELN-11145 – The maximum length of 40 characters for Project names applies also for double-byte characters. Previously, double-byte characters in long names could cause problems with project administration.
CELN-11091 – The Active Directory synchronization has been verified to work with LDAPS signing and binding.
CELN-10926 – The ElnAdminWeb can handle SQL Server systems with a very large number of users and groups without getting timeouts.
CELN-10906 – A local user created in Foundation Hub can login to Notebook. In the Notebook 2020 release the basic integration required manual editing of the user's GUID to work. This is no longer necessary.
CELN-9737– If a user is a member of a project has no permissions, the project no longer shows in the Advanced search project list.
CELN-9357– Support for the Japanese characters option for PDF renditions now functions properly for users who have changed their LoginUserID.
CELN-9352, CELN-3228 – The Notebook API and the Active Directory synchronization service now handle the distinction between user's current login user name and their original user name in a consistent way. This affects lists of users retrieved from the API and how users can be created and updated using the API.
CELN-9042 – The user error message for failing Submissions has been clarified. Failing experiments may be submitted as several parts.
CELN-3718 – Structure searching in My compounds from the reaction section search dialog now works properly.
CELN-11143 – Data Archive can now be used when the UserID comprises an integer value rather than a string.
CELN-11109– The Sign Next button on the Submission page now works in an environment using a non-default root address, such as ScienceCloud.
CELN-11101, CELN-11083– When Notebook is registered in Foundation Hub without specifying an application name in the foundation.config file, the default name used is now written back to the foundation.config file, thus avoiding unnecessary re-registration. When re-registering the previous name space is used if possible.
CELN-11060– The experiment listing has been refactored to avoid problems when a large number of experiments are listed. Previously, top and skip filters could fail to retrieve results for experiments older than 90 days.
CELN-11058, CELN-11108– Analytical Data or text Captions from ChemDraw are now removed before storing structure search indices to avoid corrupt records. The text is still available in the reaction section drawing.
CELN-11056– The required grant create job permission has been added to tablespace.sql to allow new installations on Oracle 19c.
CELN-11046– If multiple API instances, such as API and API2, are used, the global experiment caches are now written to distinctly named files.
CELN-11043– Images without size attributes added to a Body text or Integration section are now correctly scaled. Previously, clippings from BIOVIA Experiment 2019 and later were impacted.
CELN-11026– The expanded Notebook Recent Experiments widget in Foundation Hub environment now shows experiments when Foundation Hub 2019 SP2 or 2020 is used.
CELN-11004– The Installer application can make a new Data Archive installation also when Oracle 19c is used.
CELN-11002– The Edit button is no longer disabled when content is pasted into a Chemical Sketch section.
CELN-10979– The section history has been improved to avoid repeated or missing initial copies.
CELN-10946– When a template is deleted by the user it is now physically deleted on the server, not just hidden.
CELN-10944– The "Save as Word" API call no longer requires the URL parameter $expand=sectiondata to work properly.
CELN-10936– Using the %SESSIONTOKEN% placeholder in Action URLs now works as intended again. This was a regression in Notebook 2019 SP2.
CELN-10905– Audit trail records for imported experiments are now shown with the original user names, when there is no matching user name in the target Notebook environment.
CELN-10901– Save As Word no longer fails when a section title is missing.
CELN-10862– The login and logout mechanisms for Notebook and Data Archive have been refactored to avoid issues when these applications run in a Foundation Hub environment and their application pools are restarted.
CELN-10686– Experiments that contain a newline character in the title, for example as a result of pasting text from Word, can now be properly referenced in a Related Experiment section.
CELN-10429– The output from the Notebook API now filters the data according to a specified character set, for example XML 1.0 or 1.1. The character set to use can be specified at a system level.
CELN-10276– The privilege ElnViewAllExperiments now works correctly for experiments created by users who have changed their LoginUserID.
CELN-10149– Section titles are correctly shown for all section types in the Section History.
CELN-9318– Experiments with several submitted parts, each co-signed by a different user, can now be imported with the witnesses list preserved.
CELN-11139– The Ignore Stereochemistry checkbox in Advanced Search appears only if BIOVIA Direct 2019 or later is used. The installed Direct version is now correctly detected.
CELN-11133– Downloaded reaction files created in ChemDraw now use V3000 format when needed.
CELN-10941– Reaction sections containing Infinite or NaN calculation fields are included when saving to Word.
