Background

When Notebook is integrated with Foundation Hub, the “external ID” property of a hub user is not available in the Notebook login process; an active directory user synced with Foundation Hub cannot login to Notebook.  This is due to a security-related change in Foundation Hub 2023 SP2.

This issue will be fixed in Notebook 2024 relase.

Workaround

In Foundation Hub, grant the permission “Foundation/View Security” to the user group containing users that are synced to Notebook, or to individual users.

This allows the Notebook login workflow to retrieve the user’s “external ID” and resolves the login problem.

If this change is not acceptable, it is also possible to change the GUID values in the Notebook database from the AD GUID to the Hub user ID GUID. However, such a change will have to be reverted when Notebook is upgraded to 2024 or later. Contact support before attempting such a change.
