Description

BIOVIA Discovery Studio 2022 has dependencies on libraries provided by the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages 2015-2022 (or 2015-2019).

You can check whether these are already installed on your machine before installing Discovery Studio. In the list of installed programs and features, check for the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 (or 2015-2019) Redistributable entries, as shown in the PDF version link below.

If these packages are not installed on your Windows machine, see the resolution steps below for instructions on how to install them.

Without these packages, some collections do not install correctly in the Discovery Studio server installation. You can identify this issue in the installation log file in the logs\install folder of the server installation, with entries like:

ERROR: Installing Package scitegic/chemistry - scitegic/chemistry was not installed

ERROR: Installing Package scitegic/admetox - scitegic/admetox was not installed

In addition, when you open the BIOVIA Discovery Studio Client or BIOVIA License Administrator 2022 you receive an error message that MSVCP140_1.dll was not found.

Resolution

If you encounter this behavior, you must install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages and then reinstall the Discovery Studio 2022 server.

To install the Microsoft Redistributable packages for Discovery Studio 2022, do the following:

1. Open a web browser and enter the address:
   https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022
2. Download and run the x86 installer:
   https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
3. Download and run the x64 installer:
   https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

After performing these installations, uninstall and reinstall the Discovery Studio 2022 server. You do not need to reinstall the Discovery Studio Client or License Pack.
