T106-2021 BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot: Unable to display data on Autowatch

BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot

Program

BIOVIA Pipeline Pilot

Operating System

All supported operating systems

Background

Autowatch is a Pipeline Pilot functionality that allows you to cache and display the data on a particular component or sets of them. It enables quick development without the need to resource the original data for every execution.

Cached information can be used by either running the protocol on “Design mode” or set the individual components with checkpoints enabled (see reference section).

With the release of Pipeline Pilot 2021, we enforce the need of a trusted TLS/SSL certificate for Production servers.

If your server is configured to run under SSL only mode, the validity of the SSL certificate will be mandatory. For servers with not valid SSL certificate, the Autowatch functionality will stop presenting data.

Solution

Verify that your server is configured to run under SSL only mode and the TLS/SSL certificate is valid.

How to check if your server is configured under SSL only mode

  • Verify the value set on the Administration portal section Setup > Server Configuration >Server Port Usage

For the TLS/SSL certificate verify the following:

  • It is signed by a recognised Certificate Authority
  • It has been issued to the correct Pipeline Pilot server
  • The validity period has not been expired.
  • If the SSL certificate has been issued to include only the FQDN, make sure the client is connected using the same FQDN URL and not any other short name or alias not declared on the SSL certificate.

It the TLS/SSL certificate is not valid, a compliant one will need to be applied to restore the functionality.

After applying the new certificate, the Pipeline Pilot service and Pipeline Pilot client need to be restarted.

NOTE: The certificate validity can be checked by inspecting the padlock presented next to the Pipeline Pilot home page URL from a web browser.

  • “A trusted TLS/SSL certificate issued by a recognized Certificate Authority is now required, not just recommended, for production Pipeline Pilot servers. The Deployment Guide, Admin Portal Guide, and System Requirements Guide have been modified to state this requirement.”
