BIOVIA Materials Studio
Operating System
All supported operating systems
Background
BIOVIA is making changes to the distribution of the BIOVIA License Pack compatibility libraries in line with its commitment to software security.
The BIOVIA License Pack is the licensing software that manages access to Discovery Studio and Materials Studio. It is included in their download packages and installed automatically with these applications.
In the past, when a License Pack update was released, BIOVIA included compatibility libraries (older versions of the License Pack client libraries) so that earlier versions of Discovery Studio and Materials Studio continued to function.
In response to the rapidly evolving security landscape, BIOVIA has reviewed its policy regarding the distribution of some compatibility libraries and will stop distributing them; starting from the Discovery Studio 2025 SP1 and Materials Studio 2025 SP1 releases. As a result, the License Pack 2025 SP1 version included with these releases, no longer enables the following versions of Discovery Studio and Materials Studio:
- Version 2024 or earlier versions on Linux
- Version 2020 or earlier versions on Windows
Solution
BIOVIA recommends upgrading to the Discovery Studio 2025 SP1 and Materials Studio 2025 SP1 releases. If you use a separate license server, you also need to update your License Pack installation to the License Pack 2025 SP1 release.
