BIOVIA found that as of version 2025 Insight for Excel may fail to open the ‘Search’ function that retrieves data from BIOVIA Insight’s Search & Browse part. This is a regression from previous Insight for Excel versions.

Description

When a BIOVIA Insight for Excel user selects the ‘Search’ function from the ‘Search’ tab of the ‘Insight’ ribbon, an authentication dialog asks for login credentials to BIOVIA Insight. Once the user has been authenticated via their credentials, they should be directed to the BIOVIA Insight's Search & Browse home page, from where they can start their data search.

As of Insight for Excel version 2025, the user rather receives an error message 'Your session has expired. To continue, you must sign in again'. Re-entering the credentials then typically leads to a hanging 'Search Data Sources' window, and the search can only be canceled at this point. Depending on whether the underlying system of BIOVIA Foundation Hub and Pipeline Pilot is running on Windows or Linux, the error pattern may differ in parts. Furthermore, depending on the previous activity in Insight for Excel, additional, inconsistent error messages may be displayed.

Resolution
