About the Team:
As part of the Sales Compensation Team under Sales Revenue Operations, the Sales Compensation Technical Analyst will play a key role in streamlining processes, driving automated workflows, enhancing data visualization capabilities and enabling data-driven analytics across the sales compensation operations. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Python, VBA and advanced Excel solutions, with hands-on experience building user-friendly dashboards using Tableau and BI tools, besides knowledge on sales compensation tools (such as Varicent). The role will ensure quality control of sales compensation management systems, technical development and maintenance of the system infrastructure, besides having a heavy business facing presence and ensuring accurate and timely incentive calculations.
Responsibilities:
● Drive automation and establish intelligent workflows across the Sales Compensation operations and management systems through Python, VBA and advanced Excel solutions.
● Create and maintain user-friendly Sales Compensation dashboards using Tableau and/or similar BI tools to support commission analytics to Sales Leadership and Sales Compensation team.
● Administer and support sales compensation systems (primarily Varicent), including data configuration, testing and maintenance.
● Integrate and manage data flows from Salesforce, Tableau, Anaplan and other internal systems.
● Assist with monthly and quarterly analyses to measure compensation plan performance including variance to budget, correlation between result and payouts by individual contributor and by manager
● Assist with the enhancement and implementation of sales compensation processes, systems, reporting and best practices – including automation, standardization and process documentation.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
● 5+ years of Sales compensation experience, including system configuration such as Varicent, in Software or the Life Sciences environment.
● Python programming language proficiency or similar language, especially for automation, data wrangling and scripting workflows.
● Advanced in Microsoft Office applications – including advanced Excel with VBA scripts.
● Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau, and/or scripting languages like SQL or SAS.
● Experience with sales compensation plan administration
● Ability to work with concepts and develop recommendations
● Collaborative
● Project management experience
● Proven ability of being able to work both individually, and as a valued partner across teams, to help drive the incentive compensation strategy and related processes.
The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $71,2500 - $95,000
