Partner Overview

nTopology, headquartered in New York City, is a software company creating design and engineering solutions to support advanced manufacturing and automation initiatives. In an environment driven by data and physics, using the latest 3D modeling technology, creative restraints are removed and engineers can fully realize the benefits of advanced manufacturing techniques like additive manufacturing. nTopology products enable engineers to better define, represent, and lock down various engineering processes, digitally. When engineers have robust tools that efficiently integrate important data, they can accurately capture all their knowledge and repurpose it for tomorrow’s products.

Partner Highlights

Abaqus users can easily connect their Abaqus workflows with nTop Platform. nTop Platform provides engineers with a set of design exploration simulation capabilities including linear static and steady-state thermal analysis and topology optimization. The models within nTop Platform can be exported to an Abaqus input file, saving time by providing a consistent translation between the two software. This streamlined connection allows users to perform further analysis and verification in the Abaqus software.

Additionally, nTop Platform enables users to build spatially varying cellular structures (e.g., lattices and periodic surfaces) using a powerful new geometric modeling kernel. One way of spatially varying these structures is to use simulation results to drive key geometric parameters. nTop Platform allows users to import Abaqus result files and choose a quantity of interest which can then be tied to a desired variable in a nTop Platform workflow. For example, stress results from an Abaqus analysis of a baseline structure can be used to control the beam thickness of a lattice. When combined, these capabilities enable nTop Platform and Abaqus users to quickly iterate between the two software, combining an established and trusted simulation toolset with a new, powerful geometric modeling capability.
