T78-2017: Update on Support for the License Pack on the Linux Platform

Dear BIOVIA Customer,

BIOVIA is announcing the discontinuation of the development of the 32-bit version of the License Pack software on Linux.

In recent years, we have received more and more customer requests for a 64-bit version of the License Pack software on the Linux platform. A 64-bit License Pack allows for greater compatibility with larger file systems, while also removing the requirement for 32-bit libraries to be installed, to support the License Pack installation and management. Consequently, we have taken the decision to cease production of the 32-bit License Pack on the Linux platform and future releases of the License Pack on Linux will be 64-bit only. The License Pack on Windows will continue to be a 32-bit application.

In order to allow the next release of Discovery Studio and Materials Studio to run alongside previous versions on Linux, the License Pack installation directory has been modified. Customers who wish to perform side-by-side installations on their Linux server are advised to consult the License Pack Installation Guide for more information about changes to the licensing configuration.

The last version of the 32-bit Linux License Pack is License Pack 7.6.14, which was included with the 2017 R2 release of Discovery Studio and Materials Studio (December 2016). Per BIOVIA’s support lifecycle policies, we will continue to provide mainstream support for this application until December 2019 and legacy support will end in December 2020.
