T76-2016: Older version of the Discovery Studio Pipeline Pilot Application license (dsaep-2016.lic) set to expire
DS Server
When installing the Discovery Studio server you were prompted to provide a license file, containing the Discovery Studio collection. This license was distributed on our Download Center as part of DS<version>_Application_license_and_letter.zip, where <version> is the version number of the release. In the more recent releases, that license packaged into that zip file is the dsaep-2018.lic file, which is valid until April 2018. However, earlier versions included the dsaep-2016.lic file, which will expire on December 31st 2016. Note, this license is not the same as your FlexLM/License Pack license generated for your specific License Server machine.
If the license expires you may find that you are not able to connect to the DS server and you may see a message such as:
Or if you use the “Test” button in the Change Server dialog you may be prompted for a User name and Password to log into the server.
To verify the expiration date of the license, locate the license file in the directory <DS server installation>/licensing/Licenses (alternatively it may be found under <DS server installation>/licensing/share/data). The name of the file may be demo.lic or possibly another name with a “.lic” extension. The file should contain increment lines similar to the following (notice, the highlighted date which indicates this license will expire at the end of this year):
Resolution:
If you have located the license file and notice that the expiration date for all of the lines is December 31, 2016, you may download a new license file by going to the Discovery Studio folder on the Download Center and downloading the DS<version>_Application_license_and_letter.zip file. For each Discovery Studio version on the Download Center the zip file has been updated with the dsaep-2018.lic license file, which is valid until April 2018. Once you have unzipped the file, place the dsaep-2018.lic in the same location that you identified above and remove the expired license file.
Note, if you have more than one license file in that directory or if the current license file contains increment lines with expiration dates other than 31-dec-2016, please contact BIOVIA Support at biovia.support@3ds.com before making any modifications.
