T72-2017: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 and 7.x glibc security update (December 2017)

Security changes implemented in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.4 and in security patch RHSA-2016:0176 trigger an incompatibility with some of our applications. This is not a defect in BIOVIA application code as such but is the result of an incompatibility between a third-party component used in our applications and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. On November 30, 2017 Red Hat issued update RHBA-2017:3296 containing glibc packages that fix this defect for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

  • BIOVIA 2017 R2 and earlier are supported on all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 versions.
    • For versions 7.4 or when security patch RHSA-2016:0176 is applied, update RHBA-2017:3296 must be applied to ensure BIOVIA applications are fully functional.    
  •  BIOVIA 2018 releases are supported on all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 versions, including 7.4 or when security patch RHSA-2016:0176 and/or update RHBA-2017:3296 are applied to earlier versions 7.
