T56-2017: Notification regarding Microsoft Security Update Release for September 2017 and BIOVIA Notebook 2017 R2

BIOVIA is investigating a potential issue with the Microsoft Security Update Release for September 2017 and BIOVIA Notebook 2017 R2.
 
When the above security updates are applied to a server where the BIOVIA Notebook 2017 R2 application is installed the following symptoms may occur:

1. The Word Section in an experiment fails to display an image of the Word document that has been added to the section.
2. When using the options 'Upload', 'Create' or 'Drag and drop' to add a Word document to a Word Section, page previews of that Word document are not displayed within the Word Document Page Selection window.

This issue occurs when connecting to the Notebook using the web client, the Notebook Windows client is not impacted.
 
 
Resolution:
It is recommended to not install the Microsoft Security Update Release for September 2017 on a server where the BIOVIA Notebook 2017 R2 application is installed.
We will provide an update once additional information is available.
