T33-2018: BIOVIA Notebook Plugin will no longer work with Apple Safari 12

For Mac users accessing BIOVIA Notebook as part of an on-premise deployment

Apple Safari 12 shipped with Mac OS 10.14 Mojave is scheduled for release in September / October 2018. With this release Safari will block the use of NPAPI, causing the current BIOVIA Notebook Plugin to stop working. A new component called BIOVIA Desktop Connector, that doesn’t use NPAPI, will replace the current Notebook Plugin.The Desktop Connector will be included in the coming BIOVIA Notebook 2019 release.

Resolution:
•   In order to use the Microsoft Office and ChemDraw integration with Safari 12, on-premise Notebook customers must upgrade to BIOVIA Notebook 2019.

•   BIOVIA Notebook 2019 will also be compatible with the latest Chrome and Firefox versions on Mac computers.

•   BIOVIA Notebook 2019 is drafted for release end of October 2018.

For Mac users accessing BIOVIA Notebook through BIOVIA Science Cloud or BIOVIA Notebook Cloud

•    A new version of BIOVIA Notebook is drafted to be deployed on BIOVIA Science Cloud and BIOVIA Notebook Cloud by mid-September 2018. This release will then support Safari 12 and the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox on Mac computers.
