T17-2019: BIOVIA CISPro - ODAC 12.1 is required for use with Oracle Server 12.2

CISPro

The CISPro 2019 system requirements state that in order to use CISPro with an Oracle 12.2 installation, ODAC 12.2 should be used.  At the time of writing, this requirement is incorrect.  ODAC 12.1 is still required even if the Oracle database version is 12.2.
 
Since ODAC 12.1 is not supported by Oracle on Windows 2016, this means that the CISPro application server must be based on Windows 2012 R2.
 
Note that Oracle Client 12.2 is still required when Oracle Server 12.2 is used.
 
The corrected system requirements for Oracle Client and ODAC for the application server of a CISPro dual server installation are:

For Oracle 12.2:

 

  • ODAC 12c Release 4 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (12.1.0.2.4)

For Oracle 12.1.0.2:

 

 

  • ODAC 12c Release 4 and Oracle Developer Tools or Visual Studio (12.1.0.2.4)

For Oracle 11g:

As a system administrator, download the client and install to \[app]\[account]\product\[oracleversion]\odac_64
For all versions:

 

  • Set Oracle Base to \[app]\[account]\

For Oracle 11.2g:

 

 

  • Set Oracle Home to OraClient11g_home1

 
Note: It is safe to ignore "MTS already exists" errors.
 
During installation deselect the following components, because Microsoft Visual Studio is not installed on the server:

  • Oracle Data Access Components Documentation for Visual Studio
  • Oracle Data Access Components Samples

1. As a system administrator, install the file to \[app]\[account]\product\[oracle version]\client_64
 
IMPORTANT! The Oracle Client version must be compatible with the Oracle Server version.

2. Select the Administrator installation type.

 
Resolution:
ODAC 12.2 support is expected to available in a future release of CISPro.
