Description

We are providing this Technical Note to inform you about the release of BIOVIA Foundation 2021, which includes the following:

New Features

Data acquisition tasks are now executed in Capture Hub using a system-generated two-step recipe. Capture Hub provides a standard central interface for obtaining results by using direct connect equipment, manual entry, and file-based data acquisition methods.

Plate management operations can now be performed by using existing sample fields and a new “Apply to Group” option, which avoids the need to select each individual sample before selecting an operation such as Create Tasks or Receive Samples.

Collaborative spaces now specify a default lifecycle policy and also support entry of additional allowed lifecycle policies. This enhancement makes it easier to enforce different execution rules for different parts of an organization.

Signature policies for task-related work can now specify exclusion rules that prevent analysts from signing off on their own work.

Signature policies for equipment, equipment type, and activity plan lifecycle events can now specify exclusion rules that prevent contributors from signing off on changes that they contributed to.

Fixed Defects

DAT-16149: The Task Plan History window now displays deleted draft tasks.

DAT-17675: In the Sample audit history, changes to containers/lots now display their name. Previously the GUID of the policy was displayed.

DAT-18360: Hub now accepts signatures with Unicode usernames or passwords.

DAT-18828: When configuring a signature policy for user or group signing, you must also select a user or group that is allowed to sign. If no user or group is specified, the signature service will now reject the signing attempt. Previously it appeared to work but no signature was recorded.

DAT-19005: Task Plan Activity Results grid now correctly displays a 0 when the RSD value is 0.

DAT-19036: Corrected the Activity filter on the Available Tasks widget so that the list displays a unique list of activities.

DAT-19730: The predecessor task settings are now correctly reflected in tasks in a Task Plan when an approved activity plan is re-opened for edit.

DAT-19763: The Activity Plan and Edit Task windows now correctly display values with trailing zeros.

DAT-19870: Newly assigned task plan owners can now delete tasks in their task plan.

DAT-19892: Correct refresh issue with Task Plan section in BIOVIA Workbook.

DAT-20014: System now prevents the user from entering a custom Sample ID that mimics the Sample Sequence Template.

DAT-20017: Reduced the amount of time it takes to load the parameter templates page in Admin & Settings.

DAT-20018: Child Activities now inherit the “lock activity’s settings in tasks” property from the Parent Activity.

DAT-20033: Fixed an issue that could cause history entries to be displayed out of order when Foundation is hosted on an Oracle RAC database with at least two active nodes.

DAT-20105: Edit Task dialog correctly manages the sample list when the task is created from a classic Capture recipe containing more than one Input Sample

DAT-20139: Hub now correctly handles multiple registrations of an application when the Hub service is hosted on http port 80 and https port 443.

DAT-20203: It is now possible to change the life cycle policy of a task while the task is in the draft state. Once the task leaves the draft state, the life cycle policy can no longer be changed.

DAT-20209: Sample Collect action on a split/aliquot sample correctly decrements from the CISPro Container.

DAT-20286: A person signing for a life cycle action is no longer considered a contributor for subsequent life cycle actions.

DAT-20354: Data acquisition and Procedure activities now support editing of quantity and numeric parameter values only regardless if the activity is a parent or a child.

DAT-20383: Sample collect dialog correctly enables the submit button when multiple samples have been selected and those samples have different amount units.

DAT-20488: Task Planner's Edit Task dialog no longer allows parameter changes when task lock is set to true.

SEC-6732: Metrology tasks created from the Lab Equipment widget now update the metrology event and create a logbook entry with the event outcome.

SEC-6803: Task Plan's Execute button now checks to ensure each selected task has distinct samples.

DAT-7620: System control added to Extended Properties to stop the use of 'Object' and 'Attachment' types because they are not supported.

DAT-16196: Metrology tasks are no longer automatically set to Released when the recipe execution is completed. The life cycle states of the recipe execution and the task are now in synch.

DAT-17479: Improved the load time of the Available/My Tasks/Task widgets by optimizing a database index.

DAT-17852: Corrected an issue with the display of life cycle action policy history entries. Previously the GUID of the policy was displayed. Now the display name is displayed.

DAT-18213: The Samples and Activity Results pages now correctly display decimal values based on the client locale setting.

DAT-18214: Fixed an issue that caused column widths in a grid to become very narrow and unusable in certain browser window sizes.

DAT-19376: System control added to prevent editing or deleting the OOTB Review Activity.

DAT-19386: Task Plan filter now shows Activity Plans when filtering for creator.

DAT-19562: Lifecycle Policy column was added to the ALL view on grids in Task Planner and Widgets.

DAT-19665: Grid column menu filter 'Not Contains' search now correctly displays records with empty values.

DAT-19803: A recipe author in Compose no longer requires the Foundation/Manage Activities permission to publish a recipe in the Activity Driven Workflow.

DAT-19890: Corrected the Specification hyperlink in the Task grid.

DAT-19901: Locked the following parameter templates as type "Process" for use in Compose: Test Cycle,

DAT-19937: Improved the unit conversion API to allow specification of the unit type along with the unit.

DAT-19967: Customers who implemented Oracle RAC will see that History window now displays audit records sorted by date.

DAT-19991: Foundation Hub, including Task Planner, has been updated to display dates formatted as YYYY-MMM-DD.

DAT-20030: Fixed an issue that caused an error to be thrown when using the $synchronize API facet in certain scenarios.

DAT-20157: Administer can now remove OOTB entries on Storage Condition vocabulary.

DAT-20184: Fixed an issue that allowed the creation of more than one sequence template for a particular field. The most recently created sequence template is retained if more than one exists.

DAT-20225: The 'Select All Children' checkbox is now automatically selected when user selects all the child vocabulary entries.

DAT-20240: Improve error handling for activity-driven Procedures by preventing the reopen for edit action.

DAT-20370: Previously, the system created log file errors for some internal events related to access logging. The system no longer creates the erroneous log file entries.

SEC-6495: Fixed an issue with editing Hub authentication configuration. Previously, if Hub authentication was set to use "3DPassport", any changes to the authentication section of the Hub configuration caused the authentication setting to change to "Hub Authentication". This is no longer the case.

SEC-6620: Corrected an issue that caused the full name of the user to display in the task plan life cycle event history after the user account had been pseudonymized. Re-run the pseudonymize function to remove this personally identifying information from previously pseudonymized accounts.

SEC-6644: The CDS parser now correctly handles Unicode characters sent from the CDS.

SEC-6719: Removed unnecessary message from upgrade log which referred to a non-existent error.

SEC-6748: It is no longer possible to delete the application registration of the inventory application referenced by Inventory System.

SEC-6769: A user-friendly error message is now displayed when a data acquisition task is executed but the samples have been abandoned.

SEC-6812: Fixed an issue that prevented a client from logging in to Foundation when the X-Forwarded-For header is longer than 50 characters.

DAT-20381: Updated API documentation for Odata to correct typo: $include=$version should be $include=version.

Operating System

All Operating Systems supported for BIOVIA Foundation 2021. This and future releases of Foundation no longer support Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2.
