Description

We are providing this Technical Note to inform you about the release of BIOVIA Compose and Capture 2021, which includes the following:

New Features

CAPT-2287: A special Parameter Template with the name "Current Time" has been created. This will enforce a manual override signature if other than the "Now" button is used in Capture.

CAPT-2501: Capture Hub users can execute multiple procedures or data acquisition tasks in one Capture session. Rules for when they can and cannot be combined are clarified, and error messages are now more informative.

CAPT-2772: Capture Hub automatically inserts sample parameters for a child step if parent step has the "repeatPerSample" flag.

CAPT-4078: Data Acquisition (DA) tasks are now executed through the Capture UI. This supports manual data entry with appropriate signature controls, and data acquisition from direct-connect instruments, in addition to the existing capability of file-based data acquisition from the measurement store.

CAPT-4238: Reports for Capture Hub includes a variety of enhancements:

Extended properties are shown.
Files attached to observations are included in the Batch Review section.
All recipe materials are now shown, even if they are not mapped to any parameter.
Material amount parameters are no longer shown in the Materials table (and recipe material amounts are no longer relevant).
Minor improvements to time zone references.

CAPT-4411: Authors can now write, and users can execute recipes that read from and write to extended properties in the inventory system.

CAPT-4507: Warnings and policy enforcement for equipment status (whether equipment instance is marked GMP or Active, or whether equipment type is Active) are now separated from other metrology issues. A new signature policy was created to support this work.

After an upgrade, any executions with metrology signatures that were previously in progress will no longer enforce the conditions covered by the new policy.

CAPT-4566: Equipment used in data acquisition is now displayed on the Equipment card during procedure execution, just like any other equipment.

CAPT-4596: Users can clear an entire row of non-required data with a single click.

CAPT-4604: Completed Data Acquisition (DA) tasks in Task Plan show a button linking to the Measurement Viewer, which displays a single view of ALL measurements used in the Task.

CAPT-4727: When a Data Acquisition (DA) step of a Capture task is run, the Data Preview window displays all of the corresponding Task IDs.

CAPT-4746: It is now possible to remove samples from a Capture session or split them into a separate task, even if they are in-progress. However, samples can be removed only if they have not yet collected any data.

CAPT-4750: Data Acquisition (DA) tasks that were started in a pre-2021 version of Foundation Hub will use the Foundation DA capability. If opened using the 2021 version of software, these tasks will open in the Capture Hub interface.

CAPT-4773: In Review, an analyst can apply selected validity to all values associated with the sample.

CAPT-4854: In Review, an analyst can apply selected validity to results for all values in all samples in the entire execution.

CAPT-4884: Equipment notes are now presented to the user when metrology warnings are displayed for signature, and on the expanded Equipment card.

CAPT-4920: Branching and activation conditions in execution have been further refined. If branching is set by activation conditions, and recollect on a previous step has an effect on those activation conditions, then the modification of data on those steps causes re-evaluation of the activation conditions.

PROP-8959: In cases where parameter templates have been updated and recipes have been changed, the parameters in the recipe can be using superseded versions, or can have different versions of the same parameter. An example protocol is provided that shows this information so that the author may determine which parameters should be updated.

PROP-9230: When adding a parameter to a process step, authors are now provided with the version of the parameter template being used, the default unit, and a link directly to the parameter template.

PROP-9268: A recipe's Effective Date and Expiration Date are once again editable for Capture Hub recipes.

PROP-9660: The "Half-Up No Padding" rounding rule is now available and can be set for Numeric and Quantity parameters in Compose. This ensures that no zeroes are added to pad precision of parameter values during execution.

PROP-9760: Recipes built for use in classic Capture can require a variety of changes in order to take advantage of the added functionality of Capture Hub. An example protocol is provided that shows this information so that the author may determine what in the recipe must be updated.

PROP-9764: Vocabulary entries are now locked with the version of a vocabulary parameter template. Compose shows the proper entries based on this change.

PROP-9794: Revision Date/Time in the Compose Revision History now includes time along with seconds and Client Timezone, all in the same column.

PROP-9805: Recipes published as activities can only be edited if the Compose author has permissions in the collaborative space of the associated activity, and if the user is logged into the corresponding collaborative space. This extends some of the benefits of collaborative spaces to Compose.

PROP-9823: The lifecycle policy for published recipes is now set by the collaborative space of the activity, so it is removed from selection at publication.

PROP-9942: Functionality has been added to allow an Admin user to control the visibility of step revisions in the Parameters section of the Biovia Recipe Approval Report 2020.

Fixed Defects

CAPT-3056: When a Note or a Caution is large, a scroll bar is now displayed so you can view the parameter card without collapsing the other cards.

CAPT-4001: An error icon, with tooltip explanation, is shown in the value editor when the value being inputted exceeds the limits of the field. If a submitted value fails validation an error message is shown detailing why the new value was rejected.

CAPT-4067: The Parameter Type for 'Test Cycle', 'Test Cycle Description', 'Test Time Point', 'Component', and 'Interpretation' was updated to 'Process' to ensure correct behavior in Classic Capture Data Acquisition and Review.

CAPT-4662: Review is now showing Data Verification signatures for repeated containers.

CAPT-4676: Review now shows all dispositions for material parameters properly.

CAPT-4698: Classic Capture: Buttons that were partially pushed off the bottom of the page in certain circumstances are now properly displayed.

CAPT-4705: Performance has been vastly improved for loading a large numbers of samples in Review.

CAPT-4714: Capture users can now enter multi-line values for LongText parameters.

CAPT-4741: Capture Hub now properly supports signature policies that do not require a signature.

CAPT-4839: The Reason Code field for lifecycle signature can now be edited like other signatures.

CAPT-4849: Signature icons are now correctly displayed in the Recipe Batch Review section of the report.

CAPT-4851: Fixed an issue in which the audit trail for Data Verification signatures was reflected differently in the report than from in Review.

CAPT-4855: The Equipment grid now shows all entries when there is a large number of added equipment.

CAPT-4864: Fixed an issue in which, for Process Result parameters, Capture was using precision settings from the recipe, rather than publishing results to Task Plan using the updated Format method from the Activity.

CAPT-4876: Fixed an issue where the name of the Capture execution now matches the activity name for both parent and child activities.

CAPT-4891: Capture Hub now honors planned values for Process Result parameters when changed via Output parameters in the Activity or Task Plan.

CAPT-4906: A Boolean expression with "or" operator now works as expected when parameters have no values (null).

CAPT-4907: The string() function now properly reduces an arithmetic expression before converting the number to String.

CAPT-4910: Optional parameters can now be recollected with null values.

CAPT-4912: Fixed several issues that arose when the previously entered value of an optional parameter was modified to null.

CAPT-4922: Logbook entries from Data Acquisition now have their Event Context populated properly.

CAPT-4923: Planned strings are displayed in the locale of the current viewer.

CAPT-4936: Fixed an issue in which Reference and Material Charge dispositions were shown in Review only when there was an associated container scan for the material.

CAPT-4941: Validity can be applied to actual values under the Materials section in Capture Hub Review.

CAPT-4968: Review will not show equipment details if collection from equipment fails in Capture.

CAPT-4986: For legacy recipes that have parameters mapped to both equipment and materials, the material parameter is ignored, and only the equipment mapped value is retained.

CAPT-5036: Fixed an issue in which the parameter that immediately followed a material-mapped property was incorrectly populated with the container ID as a value.

CAPT-5042: Fixed an uncommon problem in which occasionally a report could not be produced for recipes created in intermediate test versions.

CAPT-5058: The Container IDs shown in the Capture Materials Container Column of Review are now sorted in alphabetical order.

CAPT-5174: Calculated percent thresholds in planned values are now displayed to three significant digits.

CAPT-5175: The name of the days are now appropriately abbreviated in the Date/Time control for the Portuguese (Portugal) "pt-PT" locale.

CAPT-5179: In advanced parsing, 'valueIndex', 'itemIndex', and 'groupIndex' all retrieve the X value and post it to the parameter when multiple values are returned.

CAPT-5252: A material amount warning is no longer displayed in the Capture materials grid when a recipe material amount has a planned value.

CAPT-5268: When users select the "P" in the column header, the cells in the Parameters grid now display all of the planned values.

CAPT-5275: Fixed an issue in which the Recipe Author was listed in the Report Header Contributors list for a Capture execution, even though they did not contribute to the execution.

CAPT-5284: The corresponding collected value now shows up under 'Actual Value' column in all signature audit trail in review.

In Review, a new "Actual Value" column has been added to the audit trail for all signatures that displays the actual collected value for which the signature was applied.

CAPT-5288: Fixed an issue in which Review showed the details of the current user (instead of the executing user) when no signer was required for a signature policy.

CAPT-5299: When a user switches to "P" view in the Parameters grid header and initiates a row repeat, planned values are now displayed correctly.

CAPT-5340: In Review, the Expired Materials and Material Substitution signature drop-downs have a new Warnings column that displays the container warnings. When signatures are not required, the Warnings column is empty.

CAPT-5354: Classic Capture: Fixed an issue in which the report generation would fail with an error in the case where the recipe had two assignees, one of whom was a contributor, and the non-contributing assignee entered a value.

CAPT-5386: The parameter function now correctly preserves trailing zeros with RAW format rules.

CAPT-5394: Double-clicking the "Next" button no longer shows a blank page after an error message is displayed.

CAPT-5417: The Data Entry signature in Review correctly displays the actual value at the time it was signed, instead of its most recent value.

CAPT-5418: Increased timeout to 12 hours to at least allow the report to complete. Real solution to this issue is HTML reports.

PROP-9438: Fixed an issue which degraded performance, causing much slower response when saving.

PROP-9665: The Parameter display order is now properly shown in the activity when making multiple edits to an Activity Driven Workflow recipe.

PROP-9666: When "Default to Actual" is checked for the Sample/Material mapped property parameters, a warning message is now shown.

PROP-9698: Material mapping is now properly deleted when a material is deleted from the step in the recipe.

PROP-9701: Fixed an issue in which Signature Policy filtering was not working correctly for new execution signatures in IE11.

PROP-9732: Fixed an issue in which removing a sample from a step with a large number of parameters would cause errors in saving the recipe.

PROP-9733: Fixed an issue in which the Recipe Approval Report loses its 'Type' until a reload is done.

PROP-9734: When multiple files are attached to a recipe's phrasing, all of their links are now shown in the Capture instructions.

PROP-9736: When you reopen a Process Element Template to edit a new version, the Description field is now maintained.

PROP-9741: When running a recipe approval report from a Compose recipe, all of its samples are now shown in the report.

PROP-9743: When adding a file to a process step, the "Link Existing" window now sorts the available files by date.

PROP-9754: Display of nthRoot in expression editor operator drop down to nthRoot(x,y).

PROP-9758: Phrasing expressions are now properly evaluated by the "Addition, Subtraction" parameter.

PROP-9761: Fixed an issue in which some expressions would break when process elements were moved or re-ordered within the recipe.

PROP-9774: The Expression Editor now supports vertical expansion, improving the ability to work with longer expressions.

PROP-9782: Fixed an issue in which deleted units could override existing units in the Expression Editor.

PROP-9783: A classic Capture Report now shows the details of containers in the Recipe Batch Review Table even when there is no Material Amount.

PROP-9791: Fixed an issue in which, when using copy/paste in the Expression Editor, if a pasted process parameter referred to a process parameter that didn't exist, the expression would still validate as valid.

PROP-9795: Header toolbar icons now wrap properly when the browser window is resized.

PROP-9802: System parameters (not just Compose parameters) are now available for use in expressions.

PROP-9832: The Expression Editor drop-down now properly makes available parameters that have only actual values selected.

PROP-9839: Fixed an issue in which changes to a recipe would not be saved if a Material or Property planned value, defined as a threshold, was missing.

PROP-9889: Parameter names now support multiple spaces and display as such.

PROP-9904: Comparison expressions no longer fail with the error "Invalid array length" for large numbers with two or more decimal places.

PROP-9905: When "Default to Actual" is checked and the author is trying to map the parameters to Equipment/Sample/Material, a warning message is now displayed.

PROP-9928: Import of recipes now properly supports parameter context tagging.

PROP-9941: Renaming the sample no longer causes it to be removed from the Activity. Additionally, no error message is seen while saving the recipe with the mapped parameter.

PROP-9973: Fixed an issue in which process materials not mapped to an amount parameter that is tagged as input or output are not handled correctly by the Activity Driven Workflow update code. With this linkage broken, every save with a process material and amount parameter was perceived by the ADW update code as the addition of a new parameter.

PROP-9974: Once a recipe material's amount parameter has been edited, it can now be properly deleted from the recipe.

PROP-9978: Compose authors can now add a property mapping of Material Collect to Expiration Date parameters without enabling Planned Value Exists.

PROP-9981: Fixed an issue in which, when importing a recipe, the UI would incorrectly display that certain mappings had been changed from "Collect" to "Reference".

PROP-9986: Fixed a rare issue in which importing recipes that were created in certain development environments several versions ago would fail without error.

PROP-9989: Material amounts are now properly displayed in phrasing/instructions for materials with dispositions of "Charge."

PROP-9993: Fixed an issue in which, for procedure activities published with the activity driven workflow, when the recipe was being edited and input parameters were saved, the display order would be reset to zero.

PROP-10001: Changes to a material's display name are now properly updated into expressions.

PROP-10007: Summary expressions are now updated when the Parameter display name is edited.

PROP-10008: Import is now functioning properly when the recipe contains parameters mapped to material inventory properties.

PROP-10012: You can now import a recipe with an Expiration DateTime (container) property mapped to a parameter.

PROP-10027: Material synonyms are now correctly reflected in Capture for child activities as well as parent activities.

PROP-10033: Fixed an issue in which recipes using the Activity Driven workflow would see parameter duplication in certain update scenarios.

PROP-10035: It is now possible to execute procedure activities when various characters (including the backslash "\") are used in the phrasing instructions.

PROP-10036: Fixed an issue with importing recipes that include parameters mapped to inventory properties.

PROP-10048: You are now able to add parameters to steps in load-balanced environments.

Operating System

All Operating Systems supported for BIOVIA Compose and Capture 2021. This and future releases of Foundation no longer support Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2.
