Installation issue with 'IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition' version 11.0.12.7

On August 3, 2021, AdoptOpenJDK transitioned to Adoptium /IBM with the release of version 11.0.12.7 of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). This 11.0.12.7 version has a new name, 'IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition'. This introduced changes that made it impossible for the installers to find the JRE. The symptom you see is the 'Java Runtime Environment' dialog continues to display, and you cannot proceed with the installation.

This issue only occurs for customers who upgrade the JRE from OpenJ9 version 11.0.11.9 to 'IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition' version 11.0.12.7, or who perform a new installation of a media that requires JRE. There is no impact for FixPack installations done on an existing GA installation. There is no impact for customers using Oracle JRE.

Our recommendation for customers who are currently experiencing this problem is to either:

Install the archived version of the JRE from: https://adoptopenjdk.net/archive.html?variant=openjdk11&jvmVariant=openj9 temporarily to complete the GA installation.

Switch to and install the Oracle JRE if possible as it comes with a fee for production usage

Do not upgrade your current JRE installation
