About the Team:

The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in the monthly financial close process, ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger and the integrity of financial reporting. This position manages complex intercompany transactions, maintains rigorous internal controls, and serves as a subject matter expert on GL accuracy. It is an ideal role for a detail-oriented professional looking to apply U.S. GAAP or IFRS standards in a dynamic corporate environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Close: Support and complete month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries, completing assigned close tasks, and meeting deadlines.

     

  • General Ledger Accounting: Prepare and post journal entries, ensure accurate account coding/classification, and assist with trial balance review to support accurate financial reporting.

     

  • Expense Accounting: Manage and reconcile expense-related GL accounts, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation.

     

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain detailed balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

     

  • Audit & Compliance Support: Maintain organized, audit-ready supporting documentation and assist internal and external auditors during walkthroughs, testing, and requests related to GL activities.

     

  • Ad Hoc Support: Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

  • Experience: 2–3 years of professional accounting experience, with a heavy emphasis on month-end closing and GL accounting. Experience in public accounting or a corporate mid-to-large-scale business environment is preferred.

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of U.S. GAAP or IFRS standards and the month-end close process.

  • Systems: Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Workday or NetSuite) is a plus.

  • Ability to be proactive, independent, efficient, and resourceful in a hands-on fluid environment

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Certification: CPA is not required for this role.

 


The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York, NY. As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York, NY may differ based on the local market data in that region. 

The base salary pay range for this position is $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 


Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses. Transparence salariale

La rémunération pour ce poste sera proportionnelle à l'expérience. La fourchette de rémunération totale prévue se situera entre 65000$ et 80000$, comprenant le salaire de base (ou le salaire annualisé basé sur une rémunération horaire estimée) et le bonus cible.
