Product Overview

DELMIA (DPM) Assembly Process Simulation is a powerful 3D process planning and simulation tool used to visualize and validate process designs for assembly and disassembly. This offering's simulations integrate seamlessly with other DELMIA process planning and simulation products.

DPM Assembly Process Simulation allows users to extend process plans with simulation detail for products and resources over time.

The 10 major types of simulation activities are:

  • Product Motion
  • Motion of Kinematic Resources
  • Grab and Release
  • Product Visibility
  • Delay
  • Pause
  • Text Messages
  • Annotations
  • Hyperlinks
  • Viewpoint Changes

In addition, while defining the simulation, users can check for collisions, measure distances and generate swept volumes to determine clearances. Assembly Process Simulation can perform simulation early in process cycle and provide feedback to process engineer.

DPM Assembly Process Simulation's simple graphical programming interface allows the user to specify sequences in a PERT or GANTT chart for each part, without having to memorize special language syntax. The interface enables task synchronization between assemblies, tooling and other resources.

DPM Assembly Process Simulation's powerful part-motion trajectory generation technology allows the user to place a part in a desired location. The position is automatically "captured." Both simple and complex part motions are reproduced in the simulation exactly as defined in the original motion.

For greatest convenience and productivity, DELMIA - Assembly Process Simulation allows users to selectively turn off various activities, such as viewpoint changes, text messages and hyperlinks, during a process simulation or process creation.

Additionally, the Assembly Process can be defined programmatically with easy-to-use Visual Basic Scripting that is supported on NT and Unix platforms. This feature allows users to create large simulations quickly and easily.

Creates an assembly sequence that facilitates assembly pre-planning...
DPM Assembly Process Simulation yields a detailed view of each step in assembly and a high-level process hierarchy describing the final assembly process. This assembly process integrates with other DELMIA V5 products. The initial process creation can be automated using Visual Basic Scripting.

Provides assembly process modeling and sequence analysis...
DPM Assembly Process Simulation provides users with geometry-based modeling of assembly processes. Users may use static, or predefined kinematic products and resources in the simulations. Users can also analyze contact or clashes, distance measurements, internal product properties, swept volume, and section cuts.

Perform assembly sequence analysis...
In order to assess the impact of a process, DPM Assembly Process Simulation allows users to derive detailed manufacturing analysis from assembly process plans, such as swept volumes for accessibility analysis; reach ability; cycle-time analysis; process alternatives; collision-free accessibility; and process sequencing.

Product assembly simulation in resource context...
DPM Assembly Process Simulation provides a simulation study that focuses specifically on interferences that large scale products may encounter while moving through a facility. This enables the user to validate spatially how product will flow through a factory with an emphasis on collision detection.

Visualize manufacturing and assembly procedures...
Using a simplified 3D process viewer, users may verify process by viewing geometry and process information, including annotated views, and simulation playback. They can interrogate attributes within the geometry and perform basic geometric analysis, thereby resolving possible conflicts in a virtual environment.

Provides maintainability, supportability, and training...
DPM Assembly Process Simulation offers geometry-based maintainability and accessibility studies throughout the product and process lifecycle, beginning with the product design process. The creation and validation of the maintenance processes, including the generation of electronic work instructions, is possible with Assembly Process Simulation. In addition, this offering facilitates training the shop floor/field workers in the assembly and maintenance processes, because it can serve as the single repository of process, product, and resource data for the process.

Enables step-by-step documentation...
DPM Assembly Process Simulation enables engineers to generate process documents in various formats such as AVIs, XML, HTML, and other standard formats. These documents can be used as electronic work instruction or 3D-based shop aids and benefit other downstream engineering or manufacturing activities.
