Para Legal (15-month Contract)
Job Description & Responsibilities
We are looking for a career paralegal who has an eye for detail and is looking to further their career in a multinational company.
Reporting directly to the Asia Pacific Paralegal (APP) manager (based in Velizy, France) and working on legal work within Asia Pacific (with a focus on matters in Korea). Your day to day will involve responding to legal queries from the business, managing legal documents and document control, assisting with broad requests from our French headquarters and managing corporate governance matters.
A broad summary of some of the work includes:
1. reviewing and generating standard contracts;
2. amending standard contracts;
3. verifying final documents for signing;
4. tracking and monitoring contract status and updating status in the document management system;
5. handling legal process issues and requests initiated by all functions;
6. Managing corporate governance matters in Korea including:
- instructing and liaising with the external company secretary on corporate requirements (e.g. change of address, directors, public officers);
- understanding the guidance/instructions issued by legal counsel and/or the company secretary and carrying out/implementing such guidance/instructions;
- managing the preparation, issuance, circulation and filing of relevant corporate documents;
- working with finance on timely filing of audited accounts and the conduct of AGMs;
- record keeping; and
7. all other legal matter as may be directed by APP manager and legal counsel, for example: legal transformation projects involving automation of process and documents on 3DS platform.
You will be required to familiarize yourself with our standard contractual legal documents and policies, and be able to, with the assistance of legal counsel, guide internal stakeholders within Korea to ensure compliance with our processes.
Although the majority of the work will be Korea related, you will also work with other members of APP and other legal counsel across the broader Asia Pacific region. You will also have the opportunity to work on global legal projects initiated by HQ legal (based in France) from time to time.
APP consists of paralegals across Asia Pacific including Australia, Japan, Korea, Singapore and China. Each member of APP operates to support the broader work of the region, covering the workload of others as the need arises.
Qualifications:
To be successful, you will have:
- Bachelor degree
- At least 2 years’ experience in contract / document management and/or corporate secretary administrative work.
- Previous work experience in the software / ICT industry (desirable but not necessary).
- Excellent Korean and English both oral and written.
- Excellent personality: team player, accountable, logical with good judgments detailed/meticulous, integrity, ethical and open to challenges and changes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Able to learn to navigate new software systems / platforms.
