fe-safe® Supported Platforms & Release Compatibility

For information on supported platforms and system requirements of the latest fe-safe release, refer to the DS Program Directories. Choose the SIMULIA product line and the release of interest. Within the Program Directories, select Prerequisites.

Beginning with the 2016 release, the SIMULIA Established Products – including fe-safe and Abaqus -- have adopted a common release numbering system. Ordering and compatibility information can now be determined directly from the product release number. For example, Abaqus 2016 is the latest Abaqus release supported by fe-safe 2016. To obtain fe-safe 2016 through the DSx.Client Care & Order system, search for the Abaqus 2016 release.

Release Specific Notes:

1 Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista. Intel 32 bIt architecture only (1A32). Itanium versions (IA64) are not supported natively. 64-bit Windows XP and Vista platforms are supported on x86-64 AMD processors or Intel EM64T equivalents, with the fe-safe application running as a 32 bit application. Qualified by SIMULIA only on a subset of supported platforms.

2 Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 and Novell SUSE 10 (aka OpenSUSE). x86-64 architecture, i.e. AMD Opteron and Athlon 64 processors, and Intel EM64T compliant processors. Qualified by SIMULIA only on a subset of supported platforms. Please note: Novell SUSE Linux requires package compat-expat1. SUSE 10.0 has known issues and should not be used.

3 Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, XP and Vista. Support for Microsoft Windows is on IA-32 (Intel 32-bit) and x86-64 (AMD64 (Opteron, Athlon) and Intel EM64T compliant processors, or equivalents) architectures only. 64-bit Windows XP and 64-bit Windows Vista platforms are supported on x86-64 processors, with the fe-safe application running as a 32-bit application. 4 Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 Desktop, or equivalent, and Novell openSUSE 10.1 and 10.2 (openSUSE Linux requires package compat-expat1). 5 IBM-AIX 5.3 PowerPC 64-bit (POWER4, POWER5 and POWER6 architectures). Please contact your local SIMULIA office to get more information about the support for the AIX.

6 This cumulative patch supports Abaqus 6.9-EF ODB interface on Windows/x86-32 and Linux/x86-64 platforms. This patch is not a full installation and can be applied only to fe-safe v5.4-05 general availability release. Please contact your local SIMULIA office to get this fe-safe patch. This patch was not qualified by SIMULIA but a full qualification cycle was run on this patch by Safe Technology.

7 This cumulative patch supports Abaqus 6.10 ODB interface on Windows/x86-32 and Linux/x86-64 platforms. This patch is not a full installation and can be applied only to fe-safe v5.4-05 general availability release. Please contact your local SIMULIA office to get this fe-safe patch. This patch was not qualified by SIMULIA but a full qualification cycle was run on this patch by Safe Technology.

8 Microsoft XP, Vista and Windows7. 64-bit Windows XP and Vista platforms are supported on x86-64 AMD processors or Intel EM64T equivalents, with the fe-safe application running as a 32 bit application. Qualified by SIMULIA on a subset of supported platforms.

9 Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 Desktop and openSuSE 10.3 and 11.1 (SIMULIA qualification with SuSE Linux Enterprise 11 SP1). Support for Linux is on x86-64 (AMD64 (Opteron, Athlon) and Intel EM64T compliant processors, or equivalents) architectures only. Qualified by SIMULIA only on a subset of supported platforms.

10 This cumulative patch supports Abaqus 6.11 ODB interface on Windows/x86-32, Windows/x86-64 and Linux/x86-64 platforms. This patch is not a full installation and can be applied only to fe-safe v6.0-00 general availability release. Please contact your local SIMULIA office to get this fe-safe patch. This patch was not qualified by SIMULIA but a full qualification cycle was run on this patch by Safe Technology.

11 SIMULIA fe-safe/Composites is not available on Linux platforms.

12 SIMULIA fe-safe/Composites and fe-safe/Rubber are not available on Linux platforms.

13 SIMULIA fe-safe/Composites, fe-safe/Rubber, and fe-safe TrueLoad Standalone are not available on Linux platforms.

14 Beginning with 6.12-AP, fe-safe products are delivered on a single Abaqus Ancillary Products media.

15 Beginning with 6.13, SIMULIA products are no longer supported on the Windows-XP and Windows Vista operating systems.

16 6.5 is the first release for which Abaqus Extended Token licensing is supported by fe-Safe products. Beginning with fe-safe release 6.5, SIMULIA fe-safe/Composites is no longer available.

17 Beginning with fe-safe release 6.5-01, SIMULIA fe-safe TrueLoad Standalone is no longer available.
