DELMIA - Shop Floor Portal (SFP)

Shop Floor Portal is a cost effective work instruction delivery mechanism for 0-3D process plans,   Built with the same performance and extensibility architecture as the rest of the DELMIA Operations Products, the Shop Floor Portal can store hundreds of thousands of published plans and grant access to thousands of users concurrently to view 0-3D Work Instructions without all the full functionalities of a MES system.  The product provides an easy intuitive and effective way of understanding work instructions on the shop floor.

Product Overview

Shop Floor Portal is limited to viewing of process plans in the Process Execution module.  The Shop Floor worker logs into the portal and queries for a published plan.  Process planners are able to view published and unreleased process plans. The portal displays the plan that includes the following data:

  • 3D rendering in 3DVia viewer.
  • Process plan summary data (see information panel shown in first image above)
  • Operation list with links to 3D
  • Operation work instruction text
  • Parts list with links to 3D
  • Tool list with links to 3D
  • Reference documents with a link to open and view
  • Alerts regarding change notification or warnings

The Shop Floor worker navigates the plan via an operation list, convenient tabs across the top of the instruction window, or via thumbnail images of the 3D image of an operation.  As a new operation is selected, the 3D is synchronized to that operation and all lists of data are updated.
When the user selects a part or tool in the list, 3DVia zooms in and highlights the item in yellow.
Images files are displayed as thumbnails. The image views are enlarged when the user clicks on a thumbnail.
Reference documents, such as safety notices or detailed instructions can be viewed by clicking on the hyperlinked document name.
Alert pop-up messages appear to users as required when the user accesses an operation where the alert is assigned.

Product Highlights

Key functionality highlights for the shop Floor Portal:

  • DELMIA Process Plans are Published and stored in the Velocity Core database.
  • The publishing of the DELMIA Process Plans and their associated 3DVia model documents is supported by the use of the Digital Process Integrator (DPI).
  • Shop Floor Portal has the capability of storing an unlimited number of process plans with associated 3d documents as the Velocity Core is expandable to meet any volume requirements.
  • Users are limited to “read only” viewing of published process plans and restricted from menus other than Process Execution by configuring a combination of user permissions and license management.

Product Key Customer Benefits

Some of the key customer benefits are:

  • Reduces shop floor paper burden.
  • Increases shop floor productivity through the use of 3D for production and training requirements.
  • Improves collaboration between suppliers, customers and other actors in the supply chain with production issues.
  • Easily find the right 3D Plan based upon effectivity even if there are hundreds of thousands in the system.
  • Transfers the visualized design from Engineering to the shop floor where the actual work is performed
  • 3D view quickly changes as user selects associated operation clarifying task to be performed
  • Improves work efficiency
  • Reduces work instruction support costs and time
  • User can interact with a 3D model that is always the correct revision versus a sheet of paper that might be out of date or damaged.
  • Secures access to planning data with role based access and permission architecture.
  • Extensible to the customers supply chain by easily linking into customers portal infrastructure
  • Web based deployment lowers IT support time and costs
  • LDAP support providing a way to synchronize enterprise users into the Shop Floor Portal system
  • 3D Process Plans stored in a scalable fault tolerant system backed by Oracle or SQL Server databases.
  • Can be installed and deployed in less than one week
  • Capable of sending 3D process plans from a single authoring site (prime contractor) to the appropriate remote site (supplier)
