Product Overview

3D Simulation for Manufacturing (DMR) is an infrastructure product that provides basic simulation capabilities to DELMIA V5 applications. It is intended to help unify DELMIA's product lines by providing standard commands, toolbars, and simulation support. Products that include 3D Simulation for Manufacturing may be used to simulate parts, assemblies, devices, and robots. Further, such products may provide simulation support for other types of entities, such as human models, NC machines, etc.

In its default configuration, 3D Simulation for Manufacturing allows the user to perform kinematic simulations of CATIA V4/V5 parts and assemblies, CATIA V4/V5 mechanisms, and DELMIA D5 devices and robots. Using DELMIA's Multi-CAx plug-in software, it is possible to visualize and simulate CAD models from Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER, IDEAS, Solidworks, SolidEdge, and Acis/DXF3D.

3D Simulation for Manufacturing allows the user to simulate processes defined in the process tree; it also allows the user to simulate processes (behaviors) defined under resources in the resource hierarchy, for a resource-centric planning solution.

3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides a multithreaded simulation engine that can efficiently simulate concurrent processes. The simulation engine fully supports uniprocessor and multiprocessor machines running Windows NT, Windows 2000, and various forms of UNIX.

In addition, 3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides basic analysis, measurement, and text annotation tools to improve information access and communication throughout the user's extended enterprise.

Product Highlights

  • Kinematic simulations of assemblies, mechanisms, and robots.
  • Creation of basic process simulation activities.
  • Simulation of processes defined in the process tree and of processes (behaviors) defined under resources in the resource hierarchy, for a resource-centric planning solution.
  • Simulation of concurrent processes using multithreaded simulation engine.
  • Analysis of distance, clash (contact), and device constraints during simulation.

Product Key Customer Benefits

Provides basic simulation capabilities to DELMIA V5 products...
3D Simulation for Manufacturing is an infrastructure product that provides standard commands, toolbars, settings, and modeling capabilities to all DELMIA V5 simulation products. It is intended to unify DELMIA's product line by providing a common simulation environment and look-and-feel across a diverse range of applications.
3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides several activity creation commands, such as Move Device, Grab/Release Part, Delay, Pause Simulation, Change Visibility, Change Viewpoint, and Display Text Message. In addition, it provides standard simulation controls such as Process/Resource Simulation, Process Verification, Update Process/Resource Cycle Time, Save/Restore Initial State, Compile Process/Resource Replay/Video, and Replay Simulation.

Supports Process-centric and Resource-centric simulation...
3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides commands that allow the user to simulate processes available under the process list, for a process-centric approach, or defined as behaviors under resources in the resource hierarchy, for a resource-centric planning solution. The user is able to play existing simulations, to update the cycle time or to compile replays or video files in both process and resource contexts.

Conduct simulation studies using simple, VCR-like controls...
3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides an intuitive user interface for simulating complex process models involving many products and resources and switch activities. During the simulation, the user may manage direct and indirect precedence constraints, selectively enable clash (contact) analysis, distance/band analysis, perform various limit checks for devices and robots and update swept volumes, sections, and measurements.

Provides simulation models for assemblies, mechanisms, and robots...
3D Simulation for Manufacturing provides simulation models, kinematic solvers, and motion planners for the following core entities:

  • CATIA V4/V5 Parts and Assemblies
  • Multi-CAx Parts and Assemblies
  • CATIA V4/V5 Mechanisms
  • DELMIA D5 Devices and Robots
  • Manufacturing Assemblies

With the appropriate plug-ins, customers may visualize and simulate CAD models from Unigraphics, Pro/ENGINEER, IDEAS, Solidworks, SolidEdge, and Acis/DXF3D.

Provides multithreaded simulation engine to efficiently simulate concurrent processes...
3D Simulation for Manufacturing simulates the behavior of parallel activities using multiple threads. On multiprocessor machines, users will experience improved simulation performance for complex manufacturing systems, consisting of several robots, machines, human models, etc. Of course, the simulation engine fully supports single-processor machines which are commonly found at customer sites.
