Fundamentals of User Subroutines in Abaqus

Course Logistics

Take advantage of this live online course right from your desk. Each day of the class will begin with a lecture session. After the lecture, workshop sessions are conducted offline with technical support provided by hosting office via phone and email. Some hosting offices also allow for in-person attendance.

The objective of this seminar is to provide an introductory overview of the utility and functionality of user subroutines for both Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit. In this class you will be presented with the overall structure of the user subroutine feature including the functional relationship to the analysis codes, subroutine construction, communication issues, code validation and operational procedures. Numerous examples will be presented to enhance the discussion.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Overview of user subroutines
  • User subroutine structure
  • Operational considerations
  • Defining loads, fields and boundary conditions with user subroutines
  • User defined material modeling
  • Customizing contact behavior with user subroutines

This course is a customized subset of the Writing User Subroutines with Abaqus.

Who Should Attend

This course is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus who wish to expand their capabilities with Abaqus through user subroutine development. Familiarity with FORTRAN is helpful.

What is Included

Electronic copies of the training notes will be provided to each registrant for their personal use. Every registrant will also receive a copy of Abaqus Student Edition.
