News: Falck, global leader in emergency services, aims to maximize resources with Quintiq workforce planning solution
July 26, 2018 - Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes company and global leader in workforce and supply chain planning and optimization, announced that Falck has chosen Quintiq to transform the workforce planning and pre-dispatching decision support of its emergency medical service employees. Falck, the world’s largest private emergency service provider, will be implementing the solution in 18 countries around the world.
“As a global business, we needed a planning solution that is robust enough to plan our global workforce, yet agile enough to adapt to the unique constraints and regulations of each locale,” said Poul Mortensen, Executive Vice President, COO of Falck. “As a technology provider that has planned multinational workforces in other demanding service-oriented sectors, Quintiq proved that its solution had the necessary capabilities to meet our unique and stringent requirements.”
Falck’s implementation of Quintiq’s workforce planning solution will include an employee-accessible mobile application to enhance employee efficiency. Through the application, employees have control and visibility of all their shifts. The labor law and union agreement compliance component of the main planning solution also extends to the mobile application, thus allowing employees to swap shift plans with eligible colleagues without breaking any rules or regulations. Shift swaps are reflected in real time, which means that employees work from the latest version of the plan at all times, even when the plan changes – for instance, if an employee falls sick and is unable to attend to his shift. The solution empowers employees with information as well as self-service functionality for higher levels of engagement and satisfaction.
“Efficient and effective communication is a key factor in maintaining employee satisfaction, especially in a sector as stressful as emergency services,” said Markus Malinen, Vice President EMEA-Russia. “At Quintiq, we strive to make our solutions as user-friendly as possible – not just for the planners whose plans we optimize, but for the individuals using our applications. A seamless flow of real-time information that can be accessed quickly is crucial for any workforce, especially so in the service industry.”
The Quintiq solution will enhance Falck’s workforce planning efforts across all time horizons, from long-term strategic planning to day-of-operations. Quintiq’s configurable solution will allow for the flexibility needed to ensure compliance with all local labor laws and union agreements across its global operations. Falck expects to maximize its resources to serve more customers, minimize costs in both planned and actual operations, and better plan for different types and scales of emergency situations through robust what-if scenario planning.
Quintiq’s capabilities and expertise in the industry is a result of extensive experience in the aviation, defence and emergency services sectors. In other industries worldwide, the company has also solved planning challenges with multi-resource decision support, logistics deployment and workforce solutions that manage tasks, people, vehicles and equipment. Built on an agile and flexible framework, the Quintiq solution enables its users to manage disruptions in real time and make the best possible decisions in any given situation.
