CATIA Fastener Design ensures solid fastening design on products and assemblies in a dedicated workbench. As it relies on V6 PLM infrastructure, this supports concurrent engineering, lifecycle, change and configuration management as well as integration with DELMIA manufacturing application.

Live fastening review offers immediate overall analysis. Specific searches through suitable navigation and display allow designers to monitor the fasteners reliability.

    User can define spot fasteners as well as bead fasteners in specific references. Then, instantiating spot fasteners or bead fasteners on 3D localizations fastens 3D Parts as joined zones.

    Fasteners can be instantiated from the session, the database or a catalogue. Filters can be defined in the catalog to query easily bolts of a specific diameter for instance. In case of customer proprietary tools, fasteners can be imported from a neutral format file, including ABF format.
  • Define fasteners with their own view and behaviors in the V6 PLM environment
    Unitary spots, bead fasteners or complex fasteners aggregating several components are visualized in 3D in the whole V6 environment, enabling 3D Search, VPM Navigation, VPM Edition...
  • Spot Assembly Fastener allows user to aggregate components
    such as the screw, the nut and the washer for the definition of a bolt/rivet fastener reference. Later on, the machining process can rely on these components, as they appear in the BOM.
  • Define, position and instantiate fasteners easily
    thanks to useful localization methods, creating correspondent positioning constraints automatically. Spot fasteners can be spotted using several localization methods and this positioning mode and this positioning can be associative or not. Bead fasteners can be positioned by selecting a 3D-curve.
  • Improve productivity when working with fasteners series
    Fasteners can be multi-instantiated on several localizations for the same stacking. Then, “Fast Multi-Edition” command allows to edit the stacking of several fasteners at the same time. Edition goes fast as the new joined zones can be defined in a few clicks. Moreover, designer can reuse a previous positioning to apply fasteners series on a new assembly taking advantage of previous number of fasteners and spaces between them.

    Thanks to a wizard, user can identify the fastened parts based on the 3d position of the fastener itself. By this quick and simple way, users can check the reliability of fasteners design.
