The McNAIR Center was established in 2011 to grow South Carolina's knowledge-based economy and support industry through aerospace education, research leadership and industry advancement.
The main thrust areas of the McNAIR Center's core research includes steered fiber nonconventional laminate design, automated novel structural composite part production, multi-disciplinary design optimization of composite (aircraft) structures and system and automated, fusion based, assembly.
Partnerships are critical to our success. As we align with industry partners, universities and the S.C. Department of Commerce, we are dedicated to creating opportunities for investment and collaboration through the services we provide and the products and technology that we develop.
Workforce development is a key element of the McNAIR Center’s mission. We are proud to participate in the state-wide efforts to turn the region and the University into a national aerospace hub for education, research and industrial activity. To this end, the Center created McNAIR Advance, an outreach program dedicated to excellence in industrial training and certification.
As one of Dassault Systemes University Certified Education Partners in the U.S., McNAIR Advance will be delivering professional training and certification with initial emphasis on the design tool CATIA.
