About the Team:
The Sales Intelligence team at Medidata is dedicated to helping our commercial organization unlock the full potential of data and enable the best possible data-driven decision-making. Our mission is to turn information into actionable insights that drive revenue growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence. As part of this effort, the Senior Commercial Data Analyst will play a critical role. This position partners with teams across Sales, Strategy, and Operations to deliver projects and develop solutions that empower our business with timely, meaningful insights — and drive innovation in how those insights are delivered.
The ideal candidate will work across the full spectrum of data analytics and data science implementations: performing data querying and wrangling, creating data visualizations and business intelligence dashboards, and leveraging predictive analytics, machine learning, and AI-driven solutions to provide new insights and inform decisions. Beyond traditional reporting, this role will help advance our capabilities by adopting emerging technologies, enabling real-time alerts, and shaping smarter, faster decision-making across the commercial organization
Responsibilities:
● Leverage a broad range of analytics methods — from descriptive to prescriptive — to transform large, complex sales datasets into actionable insights and scalable analytics solutions.
● Collaborate directly with business partners to define requirements, scope projects, design studies, manage timelines, and deliver high-quality results while maintaining strong, professional relationships.
● Apply curiosity and data exploration to identify key business drivers and recommend data-driven actions that help the sales team achieve organizational objectives.
● Partner with cross-functional teams to uncover operational barriers, analyze root causes, and drive resolution through data-backed solutions.
● Develop reusable implementations of statistical tests, predictive models, and machine learning solutions using the technologies within the commercial data ecosystem.
Qualifications:
● Proficiency in business intelligence and visualization tools, including Tableau and Salesforce CRM Analytics (formerly Einstein Analytics).
● Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis across large, complex datasets.
● Experience with programming languages such as Python (preferred) or R for advanced analytics, automation, and predictive modeling.
● Experience with Salesforce ecosystem tools, including Salesforce Data Cloud, for enhanced customer insights, segmentation, and data integration.
● Understanding of predictive analytics, supervised/unsupervised machine learning techniques, and application of statistical modeling to business challenges.
● Knowledge of data architecture and data engineering principles related to analytics workflows (e.g., ETL processes, API integrations, and database querying).
● Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Google BigQuery, or Azure) is a plus.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses. Inclusion statement
Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $96000 and $128000, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
