# Model Based Systems Engineering and Complexity

MBSE as a central step on the way to simplified processes

(JLR MBSE Newsletter) Dear readers of the JLR Group,

While complex systems have always existed and manufacturing complex products has always been a challenge for even the smartest engineers, never before has the **complexity of product development** increased at such a rapid rate as it does today.

The "**Systems Thinking Approach**" and the associated **use of system models and their simulation** in an early development phase can help here and bring many advantages:

- Models support standards, are easy to model and read
- they can be easily reused, which is important for sharing and collaborating
- can also be simulated in every phase of the development process.

MBSE is essential here and a central step in order to achieve a **consistent development of a system architecture**. The linking of all domains in the development process - requirements management, software and hardware development, CAD design, simulations, tests, etc. - enables **agile simulation, testing and validation of requirements and concepts in every phase**.
