## Making Process Agility the Engine of Rapid Growth

In energy brokerage, deadlines are short and information is plentiful. To prepare for a consultation, Enerbioflex must gather customer data, solicit several suppliers, manage the associated documents and quickly compare the offers received. Once the provisional budget has been established, the customer must generally be able to make his decision within the day.

For several years, however, these operations relied heavily on Excel files, emails, and a lot of manual tasks. As the business grew, this organization became difficult to maintain: information entered multiple times, duplicates, scattered documents, and time spent on low-value tasks.

It is in this context that Enerbioflex began digitalizing its processes in 2019 with **3D**EXPERIENCE ITEROP from Dassault Systèmes. Initially used to meet specific operational needs, the tool has gradually been extended to the entire company.

ITEROP was key to our growth: we doubled our revenue three years running. Without ITEROP, I don't think that would have been possible

## An Energy Consulting Firm Serving the Agricultural and Industrial World

Founded in 2016 by Étienne Demeiller, an engineer by training, Enerbioflex has historically supported the agricultural world on energy issues, before specializing in a specific segment: anaerobic digestion, i.e. biogas production sites. Today, the company supports nearly 40% of France's biogas producers, and has gradually broadened its scope of action to rural industrialists in all sectors.

Enerbioflex's work rests on two pillars: helping clients buy energy and optimize their bills on one hand, and a more field-based engineering role that helps clients better understand and manage their energy consumption on the other.

Based in Amiens, with a second site near Nancy, the company now has 25 employees, compared to 8 just three years ago: a growth rate that has seen its workforce double almost every year.

## When Growth Outpaces Manual Processes

Before ITEROP was put in place, most of the business ran manually, in spreadsheets. Client information, supplier consultation data, and case tracking all moved through shared files, with the usual share of duplicates, re-entered data, and copy-pasting.

A significant share of employees' time went into administrative work: cross-checking data, updating cells, or tracking down the right version of a file.

These difficulties were especially visible in the energy brokering process. Every supplier consultation required sending out numerous emails by hand, each with a full set of documents attached: Excel files, compressed folders, PDFs. Long, repetitive work, and one prone to error.

Before we rolled out ITEROP, the problem I had was that things were everywhere, and we weren't many people. We managed it all in Excel files, there were duplicates, it was all very manual, we entered the same information several times, we did a lot of copy-pasting.

On top of this operational complexity came a constraint specific to energy brokering: a young, loosely structured market for which no standard solution on the market really fit the need. Étienne Demeiller was looking for a tool that could both track the business and, above all, automate it.

## Implementing 3DEXPERIENCE ITEROP

In 2019, when Enerbioflex had only five or six employees, Étienne Demeiller came across ITEROP during his research. What convinced him was the ability to build fully tailored processes and evolve them quickly. A first version of a process could be built from scratch in a week, making it possible to start structuring the business before even automating each step.

The first process to be digitalized covered the optimization of clients' energy taxation. It was a particularly good fit: the same piece of information had to be entered across several official tax forms.

Convinced by the results, Étienne Demeiller gradually extended the approach to other parts of the company: marketing, sales, accounting, HR, and production.

As I did my research, I came across ITEROP, and fairly quickly we set up the company's first key processes. Then, little by little, since I found it fascinating, we started digitalizing all of the company's processes

The solution has grown alongside the company. Every new employee is now trained on ITEROP as soon as they join, while processes continue to be refined based on teams' evolving needs.

The energy brokering process is a clear illustration of Enerbioflex's transformation. As soon as a quote is signed in the CRM, the information automatically flows into ITEROP, which checks the data for consistency and then kicks off the production process. Information is pre-filled to avoid double entry, the document folder structure is generated automatically, and so are the consultation emails sent to the selected energy suppliers.

My scope of activity is to consult energy suppliers to provide customers with a provisional budget with energy costs. In my production, I always have ITEROP open, Outlook open, and then a CRM tool to retrieve customer information.

Once the offers have been received and compared, the provisional budget is sent to the customer around noon, for restitution in the early afternoon. The decision must generally be taken the same day, before 4 or 5 pm. If the customer validates an offer, all the contract data is integrated into ITEROP. If he wishes to wait, the file remains on standby until the next consultation, without loss of information.

This process also takes care of part of the relationship with suppliers: those whose bids were not successful automatically receive a thank you notification with some explanation.

Automation does not replace the work of teams: it takes over some of the repetitive tasks and the flow of information, allowing them to focus more on analyzing offers and the relationship with the customer.

## Processes Built to Keep Pace With a Changing Scale

This process transformation was part of a period of strong growth for Enerbioflex. Between 2022 and 2025, the company grew from 8 to 25 employees, while its turnover increased from €400,000 to €1.5 million.

This growth has required an in-depth review of the organization of the activity: new employees must be able to increase their skills quickly, without depending on each person's own methods, while each file must remain traceable and reliable despite the increase in the volume of consultations.

On the brokerage process, the standardization led by Esteban Bloch, IT and systems manager, has made it possible to move away from an operation modeled on the habits of a single person to build a model that can be reproduced by any new recruit. Some previously manual steps, such as the recovery of load curves from energy distributors, which could take up to 15 minutes per file, are in the process of being fully automated, freeing up this time for analysis and advice to the customer.

On the customer side, automatic notifications (SMS, follow-up emails, thank you emails) have improved the perception of service by customers used to very short decision times. On the supplier side, the rigor and regularity of the process have been spontaneously noted by some partners, who have compared Enerbioflex's structure favorably to that of much larger players.

It keeps the data secure, it avoids errors, and it saves me time on all the manual tasks that don't add any value.

## A Journey Set to Keep Evolving

The digitalization of processes has therefore been built gradually at Enerbioflex, starting from concrete operational needs before extending to all business lines. This approach continues today with new projects around document management and artificial intelligence.

In particular, specifications are being defined for electronic document management assisted by artificial intelligence. In the longer term, Enerbioflex also plans to integrate more artificial intelligence into the definition and evolution of its processes.

For Étienne Demeiller, the challenge remains to make technology a support for his teams, without creating a dependency that could put the business at risk. He describes ITEROP as an “exoskeleton” for the company: a structure that lets it take on more work while keeping its teams able to adapt.

Within the company, I see ITEROP a bit like an exoskeleton. It lets us do more, move faster, while staying agile.
