Designing products in our increasingly competitive world puts a lot of pressure on manufacturing companies. Faster – cheaper – better than the competition is the challenge. To meet this requirement, products and the development process need to be optimized.

The use of numerical simulation to assess and validate design concepts is now routine in many companies. With this in place, attention is now focused on improving the efficiency of the simulation process itself, increasing engineering productivity and making greater use of simulation technology to produce products that represent an optimum fit to the design requirements.

Isight and Tosca from SIMULIA offer unique capabilities for Simulation Process Integration & Automation, Design Space Modeling & Exploration and Design Optimization. This seminar will demonstrate how Isight and Tosca can be used to improve the efficiency of your simulation processes and conduct parametric and non-parametric design optimization to reduce product costs and increase design performance & quality.

This event will also introduce attendees to the “how”, “what” and “why” behind modern metal fatigue analysis. It begins by looking at the reasons why accurately predicting the fatigue life of your components is so important. Industrial examples are used to show what types of analyses can be done using fe-safe and what the technical and commercial benefits are of conducting fatigue analysis. Interesting industrial workflows are presented to demonstrate how fe-safe fits into the SIMULIA software portfolio; by using fe-safe alongside Abaqus, Isight and Tosca, product designs can truly be optimized for durability.

We will show the true power of the portfolio through interesting workflows applied to Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, and Aerospace & Defense Industries. The concepts in workflows are generic & applicable across industries and attendees from all industries should benefit seeing these workflows.

Speaker Biographies

Deepak Goyal, Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Corp. (Deepak.Goyal(at)

Dr. Goyal is a Sr. Technical Specialist, currently playing the role of simulation consultant in SIMULIA's Power of Portfolio team. He received his M.S. & Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University in August 2003 & December 2007 respectively. He is a recipient of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) open topic graduate award in the year 2006. In academia, he has conducted extensive FAA, NASA & AFOSR funded research in tape laminated composites, textile composites & materials with complex microstructures. Since January 2008, he has been working with Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Corp. where he has provided training & consulting services to SIMULIA’ s customers in various industries. Dr. Goyal has published several journal papers in highly reputed peer-reviewed international journals and has also reviewed scholarly articles of other researchers for the leading journals in the area of Composites Materials.

Arindam Chakraborty, Virtual Integrated Analytics Systems (VIAS) (achakraborty(at)

Dr. Chakraborty is a Partner in Oil & Gas and Nuclear at VIAS. He is a Mechanical engineer with more than nine years of strong academic and consulting experience in solid mechanics and design, non-linear FEA, fatigue and fracture mechanics, reliability analysis, composite structures in Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and Structural Design. Dr. Chakraborty also has strong background in technology development with strong focus in simulation process automation. Dr. Chakraborty has strong technical knowledge and skills in CAE techniques and widely known structural analysis software ABAQUS.  He has experience in automating complex engineering problems using codes in FORTRAN/C/C#/VBA/Java/Python including ABAQUS automation scripts. Dr. Chakraborty has more than twenty conference and journal publications.

Sohini Sarkar, Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Corp.(Sohini.Sarkar(at)

Sohini Sarkar is a SIMULIA Solution Consultant in Dassault Systemes SIMULIA South office located in Irving, TX. Prior to joining Dassault Systemes in 2013, Sohini worked for 3 years as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Civil Engineering department of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She completed M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University. Her work involves providing post-sales support, developing presales contents and training on Abaqus, Isight, and Tosca. Her area of expertise includes risk and reliability analysis, uncertainty analysis, and multiphysics simulation. Currently, Sohini is pursuing an MBA degree from University of Texas at Dallas while continuing to work at DS SIMULIA.
