ENOVIA Live Rights Manager

ENOVIA® Live Rights Manager is a DRM (Digital Rights Managements) solution.

ENOVIA® Live Rights Manager is a DRM (Digital Rights Managements) solution based on Microsoft RMS (Rights Management Services).

ENOVIA Live Rights Manager provides the capability to protect intellectual (IP) through an “electronic envelope,” which is one of the most advanced security mechanisms. Once data is secured inside the electronic envelope, its content is protected against unauthorized users with DRM access control. Furthermore, if a user is granted access to secured data, then the specific credentials assigned to the user are enforced with DRM user restrictions. With both of these features, a customer’s IP is now auto-protected at the highest level of security, even if this IP has to leave its original IT environment. This solution is fully integrated into the Microsoft secured IT solution based on Microsoft Active Directory, Active Directory Federation Services, and Active Directory RMS.

ENOVIA Live Rights Manager gives the ability to determine who can access IP data as well as control the actions that specific users can take on the contents. It is the only true DRM native solution to protect 3DXML IP – and dramatically reduces the risk of IP being exposed.

  • Manage and protect IP through 3DXML files used with ENOVIA 3DLive
  • Securely control 3DXML document exchanges
  • Control how long a user has access to 3DXML data
  • Protects Intellectual Property while Sharing 3DXML Documents
ENOVIA Live Rights Manager is an ENOVIA 3DLive add-on providing users with an out-of-the-box solution to secure and control 3DXML data exchanges. The product enables administrators to define and apply a corporate IP policy to 3DXML files and users. IP policy rules are defined companywide with a list of users and assigned rights. If needed, the administrator can let some users add and modify users and rights themselves. By providing a highly secured file exchanges environment, ENOVIA Live Rights Manager provides companies with a powerful and efficient way to manage their IP.
  • Benefits from a Proven DRM Platform
ENOVIA Live Rights Manager uses RMS to implement the DRM solution. RMS is a Microsoft Windows technology included in Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista that is a form of digital rights management for corporate e-mail, documents, and intranet web pages. Companies can use this technology to encrypt confidential documentation, and through server-based policies, prevent the document from being decrypted except by certain people or groups, in certain places. Specific operations like printing, copying, editing, forwarding, and deleting can be applied by system administrators, as well as by the creator of any piece of information. Any documents which are protected and accessible via ENOVIA 3DLive can be decrypted and modified according to a predefined set of rights. For instance, if MS Word documents have been protected using MS RMS Office integration, an authorized user can navigate them using ENOVIA 3DLive and open them into MS Office. ENOVIA Live Rights Manager complements the existing DRM-based V5 solution available through Digital Product Rights Manager 1 (RM1). When customers are using the two solutions it allows them to securely share 3DXML files between V5 applications (CATIA®, DELMIA®, SIMULIA®) and ENOVIA 3DLive. This DRM based solution also complements the existing security to access data from V6, based on people, role, and organization settings.
  • Granting DRM Permissions
Document authors can grant any subset of permissions to any number of users registered in the RMS server. Only those authorized users will have access to the contents of the document and can perform only the authorized actions on the contents. This way, the owner of the document maintains complete control over their property. ENOVIA Live Rights Manager allows file owners to control access on the following permissions: - Open - Save - Expiration Date
  • Access Protected Files Online and Offline
Users can access protected files both when they are online (e.g. connected to a server which manages the users and rights lists) and offline if they have decrypted the data before disconnecting from the server. The ‘expiration date’ enables a time limit to be defined for the access to the data. This protection is also extended to the cache that may have been created from protected data.
  • The Role of ENOVIA V6 and PLM 2.0
ENOVIA Live Rights Manager supports PLM 2.0, product lifecycle management online for everyone, and the ENOVIA V6 values: global collaboration innovation, single PLM platform for intellectual property (IP) management, online creation and collaboration, ready to use PLM business processes, and lower cost of ownership.
