Product Overview
VPM Supply Chain Engineering Exchange is a decision-support tool that integrates a supplier's CATIA V5 design into an ENOVIA V5 VPM/CATIA V5 installation. The supplier's PLM environment can be heterogeneous as long as it uses CATIA V5 (i.e. file management using ENOVIA V5 VPM, ENOVIAvpm, SMARTEAM, file based, etc...).

To ease the reconciliation process, VPM Supply Chain Engineering Exchange provides an intuitive GUI running in CATIA V5 that helps the end-user make the best decisions on how to reconcile data from the supplier. It also provides a batch utility to automate reconciliation transactions, driven with an input XML file. The GUI is very flexible (providing the ability to switch between different visualization modes - list view - preview - compare view - etc.) and supports differing methodologies. Additionally, to save bandwidth during data exchange, ENOVIA VPM Supply Chain Engineering Exchange allows "To Do" delta reconciliation. In this way, end-users are able to reconcile supplier data with broken relational design links.

VPM Supply Chain Engineering Exchange is one of the adapters of the Reconciliator technology. The Reconciliator is a CATIA V5 tool that allows designer to reconcile native CATIA V5 files into ENOVIA V5 VPM (using WPE), ENOVIAvpm and SMARTEAM. Reconciliator provides:

  • Setup reconciliation rules on the engineering package:
In this release, the designer uses the reconciliator to analyze and set reconciliation rules on the engineering work package. He has the ability to overwrite, version, or refuse data in the package over the data in the VPDM system

  • Support of heterogeneous DS PLM repositories across the supply chain: the reconciliator technology being based on CATIA V5 native files allows actors across the supply chain to extract this engineering package from ENOVIA V5 VPM, ENOVIAvpm, SMARTEAM, etc. using the save as file function in CATIA V5. The reconciliation process is done through the reconciliator in CATIA V5 and allows the engineering package data to be integrated in ENOVIA V5 VPM, ENOVIAvpm and SMARTEAM.

This powerful capability enables the support of a lot of complex engineering collaboration scenario where CATIA V5 relational design must be kept across the supply chain

  • Delta mode on documents and assembly structure:
This function allows designers to only send the data that has been changed therefore saving bandwith and time during the reconciliation process. It also enable to do co-design between the 2 partners by merging at reconciliation the data received with the one stored in ENOVIA V5.

  • New UI Paradigm:
To support all the new functions and capabilities of the Reconciliator, designers can use the new powerful versatile GUI that is easily adaptable to the reconciliation methodology of the customer. The GUI is integrated in CATIA V5.

  • Batch utility:
Provides same as the UI,driven by some default options, and possibly an XML input file.
