We are seeking a Structures Simulation Software Test Engineer to focus on our 3DEXPERIENCE Structures Simulation FEA applications. As part of the SIMULIA brand’s R&D Quality Engineering and Operations organization, you will perform testing of new and existing features and provide release quality assessments of these products and ensure that our quality criteria is achieved prior to release.


This position is located in our Johnston, RI location and is hybrid with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.


What will your role be?


In this role, you will be responsible for testing our structures realistic simulation applications and technologies including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Abaqus for solids and structures to model linear and nonlinear static, thermal, dynamic, and impact effects.  Realistic simulation includes complete material behavior (for metals, elastomers, composites, and many other materials), contact and impact, and large motion.


Integrated directly with CAD models generated within CATIA & SOLIDWORKS, you will develop, enhance and execute a wide range of scenarios efficiently modeled & simulated from single parts to complete assemblies allowing simulation to become a core part of product design & engineering processes.


This work includes testing of new features and capabilities, validating and executing industry models and workflows, designing and executing regression tests to ensure existing functionality & performance is not degraded. 


In this role you will work closely with global members of the software development, product management, customer support, and Industry leaders to ensure our testing is properly capturing various customer workflow scenarios.


The Challenges Ahead 


  • Assess the structural performance of products under a wide range of loading conditions using Abaqus and other technologies
  • Perform testing of unique design workflows for modeling and simulation in an intuitive interface linked directly to CATIA or SOLIDWORKS design geometry
  • Ensure product quality and functionality through testing a range of capabilities from a simple linear analysis of a single component to a complete simulation of the entire assembly with contact and other nonlinearities
  • Review software requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback and compliance with DS Standards.
  • Design, develop and execute functional, installation, licensing, performance & scalability test plans based on Industrialization strategy for new functions.
  • Perform testing across supported Simulation computing configurations including Local, On Premises HPC and Cloud HPC.
  • Validate comparison against published benchmarks, as well as industry process workflows and customer scenarios
  • Design, develop and execute test automation scripts to drive the test cases and workflows
  • Perform test results analysis of manual and automated tests
  • Identify and document software defects and validate fixes in a timely manner
  • Monitor, evaluate and improve SDLC and test processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency
  • Evaluate and provide timely communications and release readiness assessments to key management and stakeholders

Key Success Factors: 

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with strong FEA coursework
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills including ability to clearly articulate details
  • Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and team player mentality is essential
  • Problem solver with critical thinking skills and passion to learn and drive results
  • A curiosity and ability to find problems coupled with critical thinking skills with a passion to learn and drive results

Compensation & Benefits

Dassault Systèmes offers an excellent salary with potential for bonus, commensurate with experience.
