Director, Platform Engineering and Operations

As the Director of Platform Engineering & Operations, you will lead and contribute to a cross-functional team. You, along with product teams and engineering leaders, will develop roadmaps, assist in the architecture and development of foundational systems and implement innovative deployment  tools, monitoring, information pipelines and foundational infrastructure platforms to support our internal development as well as our sizable base of customers. Define & communicate the vision for the Technologies. Create & maintain Technology & Research strategy. Define and deliver Technology portfolio. 

• You will lead, manage and hire for the Platform Engineering & Operations team with a steady, vibrant, agile and hands-on leadership approach

• You will contribute to all things Platform development and deployment, including selection of scalable architecture solutions, CI/CD and peer-reviewed coding and enhancing platform scalability

• You will oversee the development of cloud native services

• You will seek out new tools, techniques, and resources to evolve our infrastructure and drive excellence

• You will work on a highly motivated team of professionals dedicated to excellence in infrastructure, devOps and test automation, sharing knowledge, trying new things and guiding teams to success

  • Provide Technology intelligence embracing research/scientific communities/competitors

  • Analyze and Understand Brands technological needs:

    • Understand targeted business processes and detailed use cases  

    • Understand functional and non-functional (incl. PCS) requirements

  • Identify and propose most relevant technological solutions

  • Build a 3Y Plan strategy for the technology portfolio of responsibility

    • Deliver a portfolio of technologies in a comprehensive framework (maturity, competitiveness)

    • Identify technology investment / synergy / repurposing / obsolescence across organizations and domains

    • Analyze Technology ROI

  • Create and maintain the Technology referential, by defining and documenting all the key drivers (Why, who, what, how, when and where) 

  • Strong scientific/technology background in a domain coupled with business value oriented mindset
  • Strong connections with Research & Open source communities (patents, white papers, review, open source projects contributions…)
  • Demonstrated record of leadership in software development (architect, service management, product management…)

• You have 15+ years of relevant experience; including 4+ years leading a team and 4+ years as an engineer 

• You are comfortable with a cross disciplined engineering team and work well with other technical leaders

• You are an excellent people manager who can be a hands-on player/coach

• You have experience with agile planning, deployment, integration, test/validation, and configuration of custom software across multiple DevOps tooling platforms

• You have a solid understanding of operations, CI/CD, Test Automation, Cloud Ops and DevOps

• You are deeply familiar with AWS, Kubernetes and can manage multi-region deployments,  performance, benchmarking, testing, metrics, monitoring and logging of all of the things

• Experience with modern SRE/DevOps practices and culture

• You have a genuine passion and curiosity for technology with a willingness to experiment, evaluate and introduce other team members to new frameworks, technology and workflows, and are willing to work on a huge array of varying solutions, as well as leading and mentoring a team on these topics
