Many parameters of a system can be tuned to improve its behavior – for example the spring stiffness of a car suspension, the gear ratios within a gearbox or the variables used by a systems controller. Determining the optimum values of these parameters by using heuristic design rules, or by “trial and error” simulations, or by using simplified linear models and synthesis procedures, does not guarantee the best results and is a slow and iterative process.

CATIA Systems DBM optimization allows systems engineers to quickly determine optimum values of model parameters by using multi-criteria optimization across multiple simulation runs. Parameters are calculated to optimize the systems behavior, and are expressed in mathematical terms that define the performance improvements that can be expected.
