Define and Simulate Manufacturing Systems
DELMIA Production Systems Simulation (PSS) enables dynamic evaluation and improvement of manufacturing processes and material flow by building and simulating production systems over multiple cycles to help decision making under uncertain conditions.
Using the defined process plan, Industrial Engineers are able to define what resources will be used in the manufacturing system and how the parts will flow from one workstation to the next. Once the system is defined, the Industrial Engineer is able to run discrete event simulations to evaluate resource utilization, plant capacity, and perform “what if” analysis.
- Define production system boundaries (source and sink); buffer, and transfer systems
- Define product routing rules, buffer capacities, and transfer times
- Define product arrival, processing and transferring time distributions
- View current state of system during simulation preview
- Analyze performance statistics, generate, and publish reports
Define production system boundaries (source and sink); buffer, and transfer systems
Production System Simulation is an application dedicated to process planner to validate easily (no expertise knowledge) Manufacturing systems dynamically, including failure, time distribution etc. In order to identify if the manufacturing system delivers the expected throughput, the planner needs to define source and sink with their internal behavior. After a simple run, the process planner can identify if an adaptation of the Manufacturing system is needed for example add a buffer and a specific transfer system to reach the production demand.Define product routing rules, buffer capacities, and transfer times
Process Planner can open directly the Manufacturing System and operations defined in Manufacturing System Definition made during process planning, additional information can be define to run a Discrete Event Simulation such as rules on the material flow (% of products), buffer capacity and transfer operation with dedicated time.Define product arrival, processing and transferring time distributions
In real life, the manufacturing system never reach the optimum or defined operation time, there is usually a distribution that obey to a law (normal, or other). In PSS, Process planner can define this distribution to be as closest as possible to reality during the simulation.View current state of system during simulation preview
During simulation with the help of contextual 3D on the Mfg system, process planner can easily understand the state of his manufacturing system and this 3D is dynamically updated. It is easy to understand where the bottleneck is located.Analyze performance statistics, generate, and publish reports
During simulation, process planner to take decision on his manufacturing system, have dynamic information such as through put, manufacturing system utilization, time distribution between failure, run, wait time, and others. This information gives to the process planner the immediate state of the Manufacturing system and can add a buffer or change the size of a buffer, or other decision. report can be of the simulation can be exported too.
