Jenbacher Chooses CATIA V5 for Cleaner Engines

40 seats purchased : development time to decrease by 35%

 

Jenbach, Austria and Paris, France, August 2, 2001.  Jenbacher AG, IBM and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today announced Jenbacher’s purchase of 40 CATIA V5 seats, with 25 more to be acquired over the next 3 years.  One of the world’s leading suppliers of gas engines for power generation, Jenbacher is Austria’s oldest CATIA customer. <br/>

 

 

Engineers at Jenbacher use CATIA’s unique simulation and analysis tools to experiment with various fuels and engine designs to exploit nontraditional sources of energy, such as landfill or sewage methane and other farmed biogas.  CATIA V5 mechanical design and analysis software helps Jenbacher develop better methods of generating electricity and heat/refrigeration simultaneously while reducing energy loss to a minimum. <br/>

Jenbacher relies on IBM platforms for all of its business tasks, from the IBM eServer iSeries central system to eServer pSeries individual workstations to CATIA V5 product development tools.  Plans are in the works to implement ENOVIAVPM which will enable Jenbacher’s engineering department to link to other Jenbacher departments and to its supply chain, for more efficient management. <br/>
