Government Solutions

Nowhere has the proliferation of digital information been more dramatic than in the public sector. Consequently, few organizations face knowledge management challenges as complex as those seen in this sector.

Government agencies maintain terabytes of mission-critical content (both structured and unstructured), spread across dozens of departments, file systems, databases, websites and applications. Only EXALEAD can help your agency transform itself to address today's need for precise, comprehensive, and secure access to this information.

Overview

More than 250 organizations worldwide and 100 million unique users a month rely on EXALEAD's information access platform to search, discover, and manage their information assets for faster, smarter decision-making, real-time unified data access, and improved productivity. Government agencies are using this agile platform for:

Intranet Search

From a single text box, your employees can instantly locate files no matter where they are stored—on their desktops, on internal systems (Lotus Notes, SharePoint, Documentum, email systems, file servers, databases, ERP, SCM, etc.), or out on the Web, and refine their search in a single click with dynamic categorization of results. And CloudView's deep, granular security means no user will ever see data (or related meta-data) to which they do not have rights. See Enterprise Search.

Public Information Access

Provide your users with simple keyword search against massive volumes of multi-format data, including PDFs, Web pages, text documents, databases, video and more (CloudView supports 320+ formats out of the box), with more relevant results and faceted navigation by dynamically extracted data categories to boost search success. Deliver this improved access with sub-second responsiveness using remarkably lean resources: CloudView can provide real-time indexing of 100 million documents and process up to 20 queries per second on a single low cost server. See Website Search.

Vertical Web Search Engines

Major consumer Web search engines have only indexed 10 to 20% of the total content on the Web, and they lack the tools necessary to exploit the Web for analytical purposes. CloudView is helping government agencies overcome these limitations through the rapid deployment of vertical search engines focused on specific topics (security, the environment, energy, etc.). These vertical engines tap into the 'deep' Web and transform the world's foremost information resource into a practical tool for research and analysis.

In a series of direct comparisons between Google, EXALEAD and other vendors on typical queries that personnel make, the EXALEAD technology generated the best results...Only three out of the first 30 results from Google were relevant to environmental manager interests. With EXALEAD, every result was relevant.

Search-Based Business Applications

Search-based applications (SBAs) provide information access via powerful search and indexing technologies coupled with standard Web technologies, rather than through traditional relational database technologies. CloudView SBAs work by non-intrusively collecting all desired data, regardless of source, volume or format, and transforming it into a single structured resource that evolves and adapts as your data evolves—without painful data integration. This resource can be directly explored with the speed and simplicity of the consumer Web, or used to construct operational dashboards that provide a global, real-time vision of data, and which support ad hoc querying, reporting and analysis anyone can use—with no training, and no calls to IT.

Uses include:

U.S. Department of Defense: Vertical Search Engine

The Joint Group on Pollution Prevention (JG-PP), the Navy, and the National Defense Center for Energy and Environment are using the EXALEAD search-based application platform to unlock environmental information trapped in silos that traditional search technologies cannot find. The search portal improves research speed and efficiency by focusing results on the needs of environmental analysts and turns novice users into power users. The portal offers the DoD, NASA and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) an innovative Web search capability for timely and cost-effective evaluation of strategic environmental business information. To date, the protal incorporates information from 75 sites and indexes more than a million documents in virtually every traditional file format. EXALEAD technology was selected after a series of direct comparisons with Google and other vendors. The EXALEAD solution is affordable and easy to maintain—quite the contrast from many of the search engines on the market that require teams of IT personnel to oversee the intricacies of the technology.
