Thermal Stress Analysis in Abaqus
This course is presented in two lecture sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT; lectures and demos will be presented by the instructor during this time. There is a half-hour break in the middle of each lecture session (10:00 - 10:30 p.m. PT). The workshop sessions are conducted offline with technical support provided by SIMULIA West via email and telephone from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. PT.

The lecture content is delivered in two morning sessions. The course workshops can be completed in the afternoons in our training room, while the instructor is available to help you.
The success of many structural designs requires a thorough understanding of both the thermal and mechanical response of the design. Temperature-dependent material properties, thermally-induced deformation, and temperature variations all may be important design considerations. In this seminar you will learn how to use the coupled thermal-stress analysis capabilities available in both Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit.

Who Should Attend
This course is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus. An understanding of pure heat transfer analysis is also helpful.< /p>
If you do not have experience performing heat transfer analyses with Abaqus, consider reviewing the relevant sections of the Abaqus manual before attending this class, such as "Uncoupled heat transfer analysis," section 6.5.2 of the 6.11 Abaqus Analysis User's Manual and "Conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer in an exhaust manifold," Section 5.1.5 of the 6.11 Abaqus Example Problems Manual.

What is Included
Electronic copies of the training notes will be provided to each registrant for their personal use. Every registrant will also receive a free copy of Abaqus Student Edition – a $99 value. Note, however, that user subroutines are not supported in Abaqus Student Edition; therefore, to perform the workshops for this course you will need access to a licensed copy of Abaqus.
