Defining Nonlinear Elasticity in Abaqus

After the lecture, workshop sessions are conducted offline with technical support provided by hosting office via phone and email. Some hosting offices also allow for in-person attendance.
Materials such as rubber and resilient foam are commonly modeled as nonlinear elastic. These materials are used in a variety of applications such as tires, gaskets, bushings, seat cushions, etc. The primary mechanical behavior of these materials is usually defined with a model of elasticity suitable for large strains. This course provides a brief overview of finite deformations and the material models used for large-strain elasticity (hyperelasticity). The main topics of the seminar and workshops are:
Introduction to material models for hyperelasticity
Overview of mechanical testing of rubber-like materials
Deriving material constants from test data
Modeling issues in simulations with hyperelasticity
This course is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus who need to model the large-strain elasticity of rubber and foam.
What is Included
Electronic copies of the training notes will be provided to each registrant for their personal use. Every registrant will also receive a copy of Abaqus Student Edition. Many of the topics covered in this course can be practiced using Abaqus Student Edition; however, to ensure that you can perform all the course workshops fully, you will need access to a licensed copy of Abaqus. No additional Abaqus licenses will be provided.
